Express robbers were captured seven¬
teen miles from Madison, Ga.

which has been recovered.

—^ Killed by Eleotriclty.
Cleveland, O., Sept. 10.—A lineman
for the Western Union Telegraph com¬
pany was talking to some friends in
front of the court house there and after¬
wards began to climb a telegraph pole
to adjust a wire. He had reached a
point beyond the first cross bar, when,
with a shriek, he fell backward. His
spurs caught in the iron steps of the
pole and lie hung downward, a tele¬
phone wire had fallen across the elec¬
tric light wire, and McCafferty received
the terrible voltage in his body.
His face and arms were turned black,
and he hung fully three minutes before
a ladder could be secured and the un¬
fortunate man brought to the ground,
lie died on the way to the hospital.
Over a hundred spectators witnessed
the terrible scene.
Trees That Make a Noise.
A curiosity is known in the tropics as
the sand bark tree and also as the mon¬
key’s dinner bell. It has a round, hard
shelled fruit, about the size of an orange,
which when ripe and dry bursts open
with a sharp noise like the report of a
pistol. Its juice is poisonous. Tho
Soutli American trumpet tree might
furnish a band with musical instru¬
ments, inasmuch as its hollow branches
a re utilized for horns and also for drums.
