Mrs. Fred Turner, of Sanford, has
returned home after a short visit to
relatives in this city. Her little son
Fred, Jr., who came up with her, res
maincd here and will attend the
public schools. This family expect
to make this city their borne at an
early day.
Rev. T. S. Allen Dead.
Yesterday morning the sad intelli¬
gence was received in this city that
Rev. T. S. Alien, a noted labored Baptist in
divine, who had for years
the vineyard of bis master, bad died
at his home six miles southeast of
the city, at the advanced age of 69
years. Rev. Thos. S. Allen for number
a
of years was one of the most noted
preachers of the Gospel in this sec¬
tion, but of late bis increasing years
and infir mities have caused him to
give up the work that he loved so
well. Since ha has given up bis
charges he has devoted himself to
his family and farm until a short
time ago, when he was confined to
his bed witb a complication of ail¬
ments from which he never rallied,
though dropsy of the heart was the
cause of his death.
His death occurred about 9 o’clock
on Monday night, and after a short
funeral sermon which was held at
his old homestead his remains were
followed to their last resting place in
this city yesterday afternoon by his
family and friends.
