Superior Court, beg to make the follow¬
ing general presentments:

examined carefully all the offices and
public works belonging to tbe county.

of dockets, record* of suits,, minutes of
coart proceedings, books of final records,
records of deeds, records of mortgages,
filing dockets, direct and reverse Index,
execution docket, and all book# pertaining
to the clerk’s office, correctly and neatly
kept. The system of numbering and in¬
dexing being so oomplet# that any citizen
can find at a glance any information de¬

We have examined the books of the
lodge of tbe city oourt and find 183 casee,
both civil and criminal, brought to this
court at an expense of 9649.00, exclusive
of salary of judge, during the year 1898 of
81300. Total 91849.

We have examined the court house and
Jail and find them neatly kept. We re¬

We have investigated the condition of the
county farm and find that the county is
caring for eighteen paupers, nine white and
nine negroes, all seemingly contented and
well cared for. House* are ail clean and
comfortable. We find two mules, calf, one two-
borne wagon, one cow and twenty-five

4,000 pounds ot hay. 100 bushels
peas, 100 loads compost, 16 acres oats, 6
acres in wheat, and the remainder of land in
