The three-year old boy of J. A.
Johnson, of Lynn Center, HI., is
subject to attacks of croup. Mr.
Johnson says he is satisfied that the
timely use of Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy, during a severe attack,
saved his little boy’s life. He is in
the drug business, a member of the
firm of Johnson Bros, of that place;
and they handle a great many patent
medicines for throat and long dis¬
eases. He had all these to choose
from, and skilled physicians ready
to respond to his call, but selected
this remedy far use in his own
family at a time when his child’s
life was in danger, because he knew
it to be superior to any other, and
famous the world over for its cures
erf croup. Mr. Johnson says this is
the best selling cough medicine they
handle, and that it gives splendid
satisfaction in all cases. Sold by N

THE YELLOW FLAG I
HUNG IN FRONT OF DR.
KELLEY S AN HOUR OR SO

There was considerable excite¬
ment in town yesterday over the re¬
port that smallpox had broken ont
and that; Dr. J. M Kelley was the
latest victim, having caught it from
some patients
Mayor - v— Davis x---- had a - yellow flag —

and deposited among the valued
paraphernalia of the police head¬
quarters, and a great fear was lifted
from the people. Dre. T. J. Collier
and N. B. Drewry had gone in the
meantime and examined Dr. Kelley
and decided that he had nothing
worse than chickenpox, and that
that was the only disease from
which his patients. Albert Futral
and D. A- Oxford’s family, had suf¬
fered ; Car- Kelley having little fever
and would probably be np in a day
or so.
Drs. J. M. Thomas and M. J.
Daniel, on the other hand, pro¬
nounced Dr. Kelley’s sickness to be
undoubtedly a case of smallpox, and
though in the mild form of varioloid
it was liable to become epidemic in
the worse form without proper pre¬
cautions. Dr. Thomas said that he
had seen many cases in New York
and treated many others in Atlanta
four years ago. and that if this was
not smallpox then he had never
seen smallpox. Dr. Kelley was taken
ill Saturday night and Dr. Daniel
has devoted his whole time to him
since then. Dr. Thomas says that
there is not nearly that danger of
contagion that people fear, bnt at
the same time there is no sense in
running useless risk.
These conflicting opinions left the
city officials in somewhat of a
quandary. The election of a board
of health had been put off until
after the city election, or the respon¬
sibility might have been put upon
it. * The city ordered a hundred
fresh vaccine points yesterday
morning by telegraph and they will
be here at once, and if the case de¬
velops or other cases show up. com¬
pulsory vaccination may be the
order of the city. Dr. Kelley had
three children at school in two dif¬
ferent grades, and they were or¬
dered yesterday to remain away
until further notice.
Yesterday afternoon Dr. J. L.
Stewart made an examination and
pronounced it an undoubted case of
smallpox m mild form. So the yel¬
low flag was put np again and a
quarantine established, with W. T.
Saxon deputised to keep watch over
the premises last night.
While there is reason and prn-

there is no cause for any scare or
