New York District Attorney states
That He Now Has Kvldence Which
May Lead to t he Placing la Custody
of AH Guilty Parties.
Jf*w York, Feb. 2.—Light hai been
thrown on the mysterious Adams poison¬
ing case. District Attorney Gardiner
■aid today that ho wait of the opinion I
that he would be able to adduce et
deuce at the inquest that would lead
the arrest of two and perhaps three per
sons. He said be bad the necessary
evidence for this. The poison sent to
Cornish caused the death of Mrs. Kate
Adams on Dec. 28. last.
Coroner Hart will hold his inquest
into the cans© of Mrs. Adams’ death
Peb. 8. Then all those who have knowl¬
edge of the poisolfing will give testi¬
mony and under oath.
For the past three days Colonel Gardi¬
ner has been making a personal investi¬
gation into the death of Mrs. Adams
and H. Barnet, the latter a member of
the Knickerbocker Athletic club, who
died in November nuder^suspicious cir¬
cumstances. He is now'convinced that
the deaths of the two were intimately
connected, although the motive in the
murder of Mrs. Adams was undoubt¬
edly against the life of Cornish, the
Athletic club.
An investigation relative to the band¬
writing in the case has convinced Mr.
Gardiner of these conclusions. Colonel
Gardiner today addressed a letter to
Coroner Hart saying that he thinks the
bodji of Barq^t should be exhumed at
§p once, unless it should be found that the

promote a scheme to deiraud, and who

The motion of Distriet Attorney
Stripling for the removal of the prison-
ers to Chicago has been granted here by
Judge Lock in the United States court.
Six days were asked and granted their
attorney iu which to prepare new bonds,
aud the excution of the removal war¬
rant will lie suspended during that
time. In the meantime the prisoners
are kept under special guard at the
Windsor hotel here.
The expectation is quite general that
they will not be able to give bonds, as
they left St. Augustine ten days ago,
going to Pensaooia, followed by a Pink¬
erton detective, who asserts the strong
belief that they intended going to Mex-
loo, from wbioh oouutry they coaid not
bs returned to this country on the charge
pending against them.
