The Convict Farm.
The Prison Commissioners are
spending s good deal of their time at
the oonvict farm at Milledgevllle
They were there all of last week and
yesterday they returned there to
spend the balance of the week.
After a careful survey of the
grounds, it was decided to erect the
buildings for the males on the Geor¬
gia railroad near the forty-eight
mile post, and the one for the fe¬
males on the west side of Fishing
creek. A bridge will be built over the
creek at the nearest point between
the two buildings. The home of the
superintendent will be near the male
building. The work will be under
the direct supervision of James
Smith, of Sparta the
Capt. K B. Foster, superinten¬
dent, has arrived, and taken charge
of the farming interest. The com¬
missioners have purchased forty
mules, twenty two-horse turn plows,
four disk harrows, and other imple¬
ments necessary for the successful
operation of the farm.
Capt. Foster will cultivate grasses,
grain aqd vegetables of all kind.
Cotton will be raised to aid in de¬
fraying the expenses of the farm.
Peas Mill be sown on poor land for
the purpose of enriching it.
The work on the buildings will be
pushed rapidly forward, as they are
to be ready to receive the convicts
by the first of April. 1 '
DANGERS or THK GRIP.
The greatest danger from La grippe
is of it# resulting in pneumonia. If
reasonable care is used, however,and
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy taken,
all danger wilt be avoided. Among
the tens of thousands who have used
this remedy for lagrippe we have
yet to learn of a single case having
resulted iu pneumonia whieh shows
conclusively that this remedy is a
certain preventive of that dangerous
disease. It will cure lagrippe in less
time than any other treatment. It
is pleasant and safe to take. For
