OPPOSITION MANIFESTED TO
BUILDING A COURT HOUSE
People Are Opposed to Present Commissioners Taking
Any Action in the Matter.
The people of Spalding County are
opposed to the present board of coun¬
ty commissioners taking any further
action in the matter of the construc¬
tion of a new court house, and under¬
stand that they are doing this con¬
trary to their expressions after the
bonds failed to carry in the recent
election. A petition was circulated
yesterday, and signed with but few
exceptions, against such action, and
It is probable that the resources of the
law will be exhausted before the
commissioners will be allowed to pro¬
ceed . As their term expires the first
of January, it seems likely that such
expedients will be successful.
While most of the progressive cit¬
izens of Spalding county are in favor
of a new court house, many object to
the site purchased, which they say
same train was delayed at Milner Mon¬
day night by a freight train being de¬
railed.

Philistines. Moses made his first run
when he slew the Egyptian. Caiu
made a base hit when he killed Abel.
Abraham made a sacrifice. The prodi¬
gal made a home run. David was a
long distance thrower and Moses shut
out the Egyptians at the Red Sea.

There Is no doubt that we need a

Wrecked tty Knives.
A number of accidents which have
occurred recently to British fishing ves¬
sels have been attributed to the mag¬
netized condition of the sheath knives
carried by the sailors, says the Elec¬
trical Review. Iron Is easily magnet¬
ized asnd may acquire considerable
strength due only to the earth’s field.
If it be used anywhere near a dynamo
or motor It is almost sure to become
strongly magnetic. It has recently been
discovered that the sailors' knives may
become magnetized so strongly as to
influence considerably the ship's com-
pr.ss, and that the wrecks referred to
above have been brought about In this
way. It has been suggested that the
sailors be supplied with knives of non¬
magnetic material, when the danger
will at once disappear.
