Bolds Up Five Stagecoaches, One

Their Occupants.

—
Pretty Passenger Forced to “GoThrongfa” !
Her Companions by Hard Hearted
Desperado, Who Laughs When
Englishwoman Faints.
A lone highwayman held up five
stages In the Yoseinite valley In Cali¬
fornia, near Ah w ah nee, recently.
The flr^ authentic Information of the
robb’er^dPwaa received In Fresno when
J. F. Tlbbett of Riverside with his wife
and Mlaa Amy Mlchelbacker came out
of the valley.
The robbery occurred six miles from
the stopping place at Ahwalmee, on tile
other aide. At -that place the road
winds’ around the side of a bill and
comes to a sudden point. At this point
the robber stepped out and ordered W.
A. Palmer, the driver of the first stage,
to stop. The latter quickly compiled.
The highwayman wore a black mask
and had sacks tied about his feet to
prevent the leaving of any telltale
tracks as a clew for a pursuing posse.
He held In his right hand a rifle. The
man behind the mask and gun ordered
the passengers to alight. The women
screamed, but the robber emphasized
his order, and all quickly got out of the
stage and lined up on the road with
their hands above their heads.
H. W. Elliott, from Hormitos, was or¬
dered to take the express box from the
stage. While he was waiting for the
next stage to come up the robber shot
the lock off the Wells-Fargo box and
rifled Its contents. Tbe bandit stopped
the other stages In the same way, lin¬
ing the passengers up and keepiug
them covered with hls gun.
When 'all the passengers, forty-five
In number, were lined up the bandit,
TOLD HER SHE WAS APPOINTED COL¬
LECTOR.

then went about the work. The girl
did not come up to the robber’s re¬

was a poor highwayman, ordering her
to get Into line and appointing a man
to take her place, requiring him to
search the passengers.
An Englishwoman and her dnughter
were in- the party, and when the rob¬

road In a dead faint. He only laughed
as he searched her.
Having secured everything of value

The Absolute Cure Ever Discovered for Chronic 1
What it is:

whn had suffered agonies for twenty years
and tried every known medicine, as well
a* the most famous mineral springs, with¬
out recti'log any benefit, were cured by
Jamaica ' Rheumatic Cure — and they
stayed cured.
After a thorough investigation we be¬
came convinced that Jamaica Rheumatic
Curs possessed greater merits than any
other remedy for rheumatism ever placed
upon the market, and that it could be
cons-'lenciously recommended to the suf¬
fering. We therefore accepted an offer
from Mr. Sears, and purptased the for-

Jamaica Rheumatic Cure is not a "mi¬
raculous discovery” WS the result.of a
dream. It is a scientific compound of
those medicines which have been proved
to be the vest remedies for rheumatism.
It combines the. best of these remedies
in what patient Tesearch and a long
course exactly of the experiments right proportions havejrroved bring to the be
to

these ingredient* separately, or
them in the 'wrong proportions and re¬
ceive but little benefit.

nearly all so-called rheumatic cures to
deaden the pain. These narcotics never
cure any disease—they can afford only
momentary relief, and the troubles are
eventually made worse.

what we claim for it, and no more. It
costs more to make than any other med¬
icine on the market. It is made not
simply to sell, but to cure. It is a strong,

While Jamaica is not claimed to be a
quick pain reliever, in some cases it re¬
lieves the pain in a few. days, while in
others have it takes longer. Many severe cases
beeq cured with from one to three
bottles. It'is not claimed that this amount
will cure-all cases. People differ, and
the disease also differs in its nature.
Hence the ▼ariatiettVin the quantity re¬
quired. We have never yet found a case
that could not be cured with from one to
six bottles.
The only absolute cut* ever discovered
