The man or woman who comes to
Griffin and is greeted by such sight

Griffin. And as a rule first opinions
are lasting. The Griffin depot Is not
an index to the city, but strangers who

Torrey, who from Hawkins
ville, and will move to Smarts sta
tion in Mortice county.
Dr. j. W. Taylor, of Luthersville,
was in the <rity yesterday on the way
to Macon, where he will spend a day
or soon Masonic business. While here
he was the guest of hto brother, Dr. R.
H. Taylor.

Col. Sorenson, head of the Mexican
Amalgamated Mines, came down from
Atlanta yesterday and brought the
cheering New Year’s greeting to the
Griffin stockholders that fifty men
were busy at work at the mines, erect
ing smelters and getting out ore, and
that everything is still promising.
The Griffin Commercial Club bade
farewell to ths old year and welcomed
the now one with a large and brilliant
reception last night. The club has
qeen newly refitted throughout, and
the reception was gotten up regardless
of expense. Being a very swell society
aflhir, full particulars are reserved for
Sunday’s society page.
Miss Lula Dingier, daughter of J. D.
Dingier, of Drewryville, died yester
day morning at five o’clock from con
gestion of the brain. She was twenty
two years of age and an excellent
Christian girl, being a mem6&r of the
Baptist church, and her untimely
death Is a sad shock to her family and
friends. The burial will take place at
one o’clock today at Falrvew church-
Rev. J. A. Drewry will conduct the
funeral services.
