The Age of Faith.
A nation on Its knees—a people at
prayer' There is something tremend
ous, inspiring in the thought Grcatei
than the mental picture of armies go
ing forth to war is this picture of r
nation praying that war and rumors
of war may cease.
Truly this to the age of faith. Never
before in the history of the world
was there such faith in the ultimate
improvement of mankind—such faith
in the regenerative powers of man
himself.
Men today believe things too hard
for the belief of earlier ages. They
believe tint wars will cease some day
from out the world. They believe that
away can I* found whereby man can
live at ptace with hi- fellow man.
They believe that no form of social
amelioration is impossible. They be
hove that disease may largely be
stamped out of the civilised world.
They believe that the people of the
whole earth will ultimately learn that
the great lesson of self-government.
There is nothing too hard and too
high for the world today to believe.
Men believe in miracles of self-sacri
fice and self-abnegation. They believe
in love, chastity and honor. They be
lieve in far ideals of truth and un-
■ realised nobilities of conduct.
They do not delude themselves with
the idea of immediate perfection.
They do’not think that in the closing
of an eye all these beliefs can flower
into action. But the world has felt
the possibilities of this life as never
before and it has faith in what it
fools.
Call this an age of doubt, synicism
and incredulity? Say science has
“altered all with its cold peering
eyes?" Affirm that is all plain,
material, matter-of-fact—that the
great faiths are dead and man no
mere behezes.
Never did he believe so much! Nev
er before vas there a more implicit
R. trust in the ultimate triumph of high
ideals, in the possibility of all things
great and -ood.
Wars and rumors of wars cannot
extinguish this faith. It rises above
the smoke and wreck of battle. For
a momen* only it listens to the voice I
of disillusionment and then goes on
its shining way—etill "clutching the
unalterable hope, still following the
• inviolable shade!*—Chicago Herald.

OIL TfIEITMENT FOR
STOMACH TROUBLES
A simple prescription made up of a
combination of pure vegetable oils ie
producing wonderful results for suf
ferers from stomach, liver and intes
tinal troubles. The remedy, which is
said to have originated in France,
where it has been used for years by
the peasantry, was introduced into
this country by George H. Mayr, a
leading Chicago druggist, who cured
himself of severe stomach, liver and
intestinal troubles by its use. Those
who have used it say the first dose, is
sufficient to convince any one of its
remarkable merit, and that within
twenty-four hours the sufferer feels
like a new person. This medicine,
which has become known as Mayr’s
Wondcrfi 1 Stomach Remedy, is now
sold by first class druggists every
where. It is now sold here by Car
