had a painful accident a few days ago
when she fell and sprained her wrist,
and trust she will soon recover.
Winfield S. Futral, one of Spald

popular young men, left Wednesday
morning for Syracuse, N. Y., being
sent there by the local exemption
board for special military training.

Lawrance returned home Saturday
from Atlanta where she has been vis
iting her aunt, Mrs. Jas Clark. She
was acompanied home by little Misses
Maxie and Elizabeth Clark, who will
be her guests for several days.

| The farmers of Spalding county are
becoming intensely interested in the
importance of raising the highest and
best quality of live stock. This is a
direct result of the Board of Trade’s
recent activities along this line and
bids fair to accomplish great things
hi re.
I L. J. Gaissert, one of Spalding’s
best known and most progressive
farmers, left Monday for Salisbury,
N. C., where he will buy an Aberdeen
{Angus bull, sixteen months old and
{weighing 1,000 pounds He hopes to
return last of the week with the bull.
/Phis animal is the grandson of the
famous Vaios Rosegay, which won
{the grand championship over all oth
|er breeds at the International Fat
Show at Chicago in 1907. The full
brother of the bull which Mr. Gais
sert is buying sold recently in the
State of lowa for $2,000.
I Mr. Gaissert is making all his
plans to raise the highest and best
of live stock and is very much
interested in getting the farmers of
Spalding county identified with the
. Board of Trude, feeling that the em
ployment of a county demonstration
agent will be an immediate help and
a profit to every farmer in the coun
ty.
He was disappointed in having to
leave Griffin during the Board of
Trade campaign, as he was slated to
serve on a campaign committee. Be
fore leaving, however, he signed ap
plication for two memberships in the
Board of Trade, amounting to fifty
dollars per year.
VAUGHN VENTURES.
Vaughn, July 30.—Mr. and Mrs. W
F. Malaier, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Ruff
and Mr. J. A. McElroy attended the
I Masonic barbecue at Lizella, Ga., near
Macon, last Tuesday.
Mrs. G. 11. Steele gave a spend the
day party on the river last Wednes
day in honor of Mrs. Mattie Touch
stone and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis of
I Dublin, who has been her guest for
[the past two weeks.
