Appropriation For
Experiment Station
Director J. D. Price received notifi
cation from Dr. E. W. Allen, of the
Experiment Stations office in Wash
ington, Friday announcing that the
appropriations for the Georgia Ex
periment Station in Griffin for the fis
cal years 1917 and 1918 for thirty
thousand dollars and the appropria
tions for the two quarters of the
years 1918 and 1919 of fifteen thou
sand dollars were now available. It
was stated that drafts for forty-five
thousand dollars had been forwarded
to the treasury department and that
the money would be forthcoming in
a few days.
As a result of t - information Di
rector Price and Judge J. J. Flynt,
who have worked energetically for
the appropriations and done most ef
ficient work, were unusually happy
Friday. The money is needed to pay
back salaries at the station and for
maintainance of this splendid insti
tution, and comes m most handy just
at this time.
Credit is due Congressman J. Wal
ter Wise and Senator Hoke Smith for
the passage of the bill in congress
making the appropriations available.
Mr. Wise has been right on the job
in this important matter ami through
his zealous efforts is largely due the
success of the measures for the- money
for the Experiment Station. He was
ably assisted by Senator Smith, and
in fact file whole Ge rgia delegation
worked industriously for the appro
priations.

VICTORY IS COMING!
So’s Santa Claus, and he will arrive first.
The National Council of Defense has requested the
buying public to observe certain rules in this year's
Christmas shopping, and above all things to shop early.
We will do all in our power to make the request ef
fective. and we ask our patrons to co-operate with us.
WASTING IN WAR TIME IS A CRIME
A careful survey of the stock at Wynne's will convince
you that you can still give Christmas gifts without
transgressing any rule of patriotic economy.
