j For those who are in need of a rem-

it is a good plan to try Doan’s Kid

Mrs. J. B- Peel, 231 W. Taylor St.,
Griffin, says: “A good many years
ago I was troubled with my kidneys
and back. The pains started just over
Imy kidneys and were very severe. I
had headaches so that I didn’t know
what to do at times and nervous spells
came over me and I was all unstrung
and irritable. Dizzy spells and
dazed me. My kidneys were in bad
shape, too and caused me a lot of an
noyance. I was always tired and
languid and couldn’t get sleep enough.
Finally a friend told me to try Doan’s
I Kidney Pills, so I got a box at the
Evans Phartnacy Co. I am pleased
to say they cured me of all the trou

SHOOTS FOUR NEGRO
CONVICTS, lAT TIME
NINETEEN YEAR OLD WHITE
GUARD IN DECATUR COUNTY
KILLS PRISONER WHO TAKES
HIS PISTOL AND ATTEMPTS.TO
KILL HIM.
BAINBRIDGE, Dec. 19.—1 n an at
tempt to escape from the Decatur
county farm today four negro prison
ers, one under life sentence, were kill
ed by H. D. Story, a white guard, only
19 years old. The guard shot each
prisoner in about the same place, be
tween the eyes and chin.
An unsuccessful attempt to kiil the
guard was made by one of the negro
convicts who was shot to death a few
moments later. Story dropped his
pistol and it was then the men tried
to get away. A negro named Whit
ely Aiken grabbed the pistol and fired
at the guard, missing.
As he was preparing to fire a second
time a white convict by the name of
Tom Burrows knocked Aiken down,
using a stalk of sugar cane. Story
managed to get his rifle and as the
four negroes rushed at him he shot
them one at a time.
The names of the men killed are
given as Whitely Aiken, Handy Smith
Bower Wooten and a new negro, sent
to the farm Saturday under life sen
tence.
Had Planned to Escape.
..Apparently the negroes had agreed
to make a getaway and were bunch
ed, waiting for a signal from one of
the number selected as leader. Seeing
the guard drop his pistol, the signal
to break must have been given with
the result stated. All of the shooting
was at close range.
Considerable excitement prevailed
at the county farm for some hours af
ter the trouble. None of the other
prisoners exhibited the least desire to
take advantage of the situation.

BIG EATERS GET
«■
Take a glass of Salts before breakfast
if yoor Back hurts or Bladder
bothers you.
The American men ami women muei
guard constantly against Kidney trouble.
t>ecause we eat too much and all our food
is rich. Our blood is filled with uric
acid which the kidneys strive to filter
out. they weaken from overwork, become
sluggish; the eliminative tissues clog and
| the result is kidney trouble, bladder
i weakness and a general decline in health.
\\ hen your kidneys feel like lumps of
lead; your back hurts or the urine is
cloudy, full of sediment or you are
obliged to seek relief two or three times
during the night; if you suffer with sick
headache or dizzy, nervous spells, acid
stomach, or you have rheumatism when
the weather is bad, get from your phar
macist about four ounces of Jad Salts;
take a tablespoonful in a glass of
water before breakfast for a few days
and your kidneys will then act fine,
i This famous salts is made from the acid
of grapes and lemon juice, combined with
lithia. and has been used for generations
to lliifih and stimulate clogged kidneys:
to neutralize the acids in the urine so it
j no longer is a source of irritation, thus
ending bladder disorders.
Jad Salts is inexpensive; cannot in
jure, makes a delightful effervescent
lithia-water beverage, and belongs in
every home, because nobody can made©
a mistake by having a good kidney Hush
ing any time.
