It is about time to begin laying in a big slock of good resolutions to begin tlio new year with. At Hill's you can buy mattresses tor 84 and 84. airs. Elam makes a fine display of holi day goods, her stock' embracing nil the prettiest and latest novelties. Tiio Albany -Voice and Adcertuer man has got the big-head—caused by the mumps. Spring Beds (warranted) for 82.50 at 1). B. Hill’s. A prottv good nnilo sold at sheriffs sale in Vienna, tiro other day, for one dollnr and fifty cents, with the bridle thrown in. Picture Frames under anybody, if they have lobe given away, at Hill's Furniture Store. There is but one thing needed tsmnke the oyster soup at a railrond restaurant perfect, and that is oysters. Messrs. Glover & Perry will scat the netv opern house with the latest style; of folding chairs. Now they are tryiug to prove Guitean insane by a number of witnesses whom he owes. That kind of evidence wonhl convict a majority of our people. D. Tl. Hill offers the best bedstead in town for 82.00. Don’t fool your money away on tur keys and other small game, but take a chance in that big raffle ol furniture at Hill's store. He has some parlor and bedroom setts that are bonutiful. 1). B Hill sells Silver Plated Ware at a reasonable profit, and backs up the qual ity for nil he is worth. "Dick,” our man of all work and mas ter of none, has gone and loft us, and we uiourncth his loss. We have a man who will fill his place physically, however, if not mentally. Holiday goods sold regardless fit Hill’s. The man who is going to the Exposi tion is bearable, but the man who has been and seen it all, and wants to toll all about it—good Lord deliver us ! The Atlanta pilgrims liavo generally re turned homo, anil their hoods still spin with the hum of the machinery nl IhoEx- liosilion.—Amkuhts Rkcokdku. Hill offers his entire slock of Furniture, Crockery, Glassware, etc, ut prices to suit the stringency of the limes. The end of tho year is uear at hand, wlicu merchants and others want to square up acoonnts. This necessitates bill-heads anil statements. Tho Bttcoil- tiKU office is prepared to print these and anything else needed promptly and at the lowest prices. Givo us a call. Messrs. Glover & Perry intend erect ing a largo store-room and cotton ware house upon the lot on the northeast cor ner of the s piai o recently purchased by them. These enterprising gentlemen a-o doing mnen toward bniliug v.p our city, and we hope their enterprise will bo liberally rewarded. Homo young men of this city, who have enterprise and energy as well as capital, are discussing tho lensibility of erecting a cotton seed oil mill in Ameri cas. Wo know or no better point in Georgia, and if snrno of our older capital ists had as much shrewdness as they are given credit for, they would not let the yonng men get ahead of tlurn, but would have a mill in operation by next season. There is money in it—big money and sure money. Window Shades‘'hang low" at Hill’s Furniture Store. From the lurge quantities of various kinds of goods being received and open ed in tho stores by our merchants it would indicate that there was no strin gency in the money market in our coun try. But when we come to inquire into matters, it will be found that tho busi ness men of the city are not pressing with mi iron grip upon the farmers, but are extending a helping hand to all of them, showing a disposition to do right and net honorable. This is as it should lie, and both patties arc to be highly commended. New Oootl* lu a New Store. Und«r the opera house ntixt to Glover & Perry’s, is perhaps as line uu assort- rneut ot fancy candies as can bo found in any metropolitan establishment, also a splendid lot of fresli family groceries. W. E. Brown will wait on you quietly mid elegantly. Go around Indies and peruse bis goods. Ed is open to couvic- lion, being yet single and good looking. La.lir-1 will t .et the best of bargains. drelti 2w Fertilizer Dealers In Council. AmkiiicL'S, Ga., Dee. 13,1881. At n meeting of dealers in fertilizers, doing business in this city, the fullowing resolutions were made and adopted;— That we, the undersigned, agents and dealers in fertilizers, are of the opinion that the prices of fertilizers are entirely too high to be profitable to the planters. That the way to correct this great evil is to provide a method by whioh all that is sold may be paid for, thereby making it nnnec ssary for manufacturers to make allowance for non-payments, and ns n matter of cuurse cheapening the gross. llesolctd, That wo will each make, or cause to be made, a eorreet copy without favor or affection—of all tho mimes that may be in arrears on oni respective books after.Jannary 10th, 1882, and hand [the sumo to the secretary, who shall consoli date the same, whioh said consolidation shall be known os a “black list." Jtcsolced, That the Secretary elml have a sufficency of said black list printed to furnish each firm with three copies. Resulted, That we positively refuse to sell lerti'izers to any man whose name appears on said black list; provided that tho agent or dealer causing a name or names to be placed on the black list, may soli the said party or parties, upon being secured tor past indebtedness. Ilcsolccd, That this is no combination against the planters' interest, but rather n protection to the good people who, under the present system, are annually paying out large sums of money in the shape of profits to make good the unpaid purchases of irresponsible parties. llesolctd, That we invite agents in the neighboring cities and towns to co-oper ate with ue and exchange lists. Resulted, That wo ore aware of the foot that there are a number of good parties who have not yet paid, and that we ear nestly request them to make satisfactory arrangements at onoe and relieve us of he unpleasant necessity of plncing their names on the list. Resolcei, That a copy of tho above res olutions be handed each of the oity pa pers. with a request that tho same be published. J. W. JOHDAK, Jr., Cbm’n. J. W. Futluow, Jr., Seo'y. [Signed^] T. He spent last winter in Southern Georgia, and was so well pleas ed with tho country and climato thut ho has returned. Au Eoonomlnal Lady. As Mr. T— was standing in front of his door jingling a lmndfnl of holey coins, he was Accosted by an old lady from the rural districts with tiio question: “What will yor take ferthat holey money*?” ‘'i’ll take eighty cents on the dollar; do you want to bnyi ?'\ “Well, yes; I'll tako two or three dollarworth. Ver see I'm on the econeruiizin'line, and my old uian likes a good drink, and Heury Bumw, 'round here ..t Haro’s B.u low House sa loon, is hiking holey monoy at face value. I thought I moufc save a little by buying it up.” Mr. T— counted out two dollars, which he told her she could havo for a dollar and fifty cents, u8 obe of the dimes was a third gone. Thanking him she moved on, much elated with her trade A Chance to Make Money. If ever our country friends had a clmnce to make big money, now is the time with those of them who have poultry and eggs for sale. Medium sized turkeys readily sell at from $1.60 to $2.00 each and chickens from 30 to 50 ounts each, while eggs readily bring from 46 to 60 cents per dozen and the price is still ad vancing. The supply is wholly inade quate to tne demand and those who get here first with poultry or its fruit, will make more clear money than if they had brought in cotton. They will have no trouble in effecting ready sales at private residences or our grocery houses. So let them gather up their domiuicks, bluo bens, speckled backs «nnd muffled jaws and bring them in with their nest depos its, and we guarantee big prices and prompt sales. Nobody's Business. Communicated. Is tho revenno raised from the legiti mate taxes of oity property and its busi. ness not sufficient to pay all her necessa ry expenses? If not, would it not bo wiser to increase her taxes than to sup plement by 'licensing gambling in its vilest and most dangerous form—to*wit: a wheel of fortune, now runniug under regular license. A rovonue obtained from the vices of our people, is in the very nature of things a ourso itself. Who can fix the price of public or personal morals?
