A well dressed gentleman bos been playing some peculiar pranks in a neigh boring town, and the people don’t know what to make of them. He went into a wagon shop, bringing with him the hole to a wagon hub and wanted to know what he would charge to make him a wagon to fit it. The wagon maker, think ing ne was making fnn of him, named an exorbitant price, when the gentleman agreed to pay the amount if he would allow a reasonable sum for the bolo he had furnished. The price of the hole was fixed at fifty cents, when the stranger counted out the money and left, saying he would come back nnd get the wagon in a few weeks. His next exploit was to go to o gun shop and ask if they made guns to order thore. On being answered in tho affirmative, he began to undo a long slender package, from which ho produced a pasteboard tube about thirty-five inches long, nnd said he wanted a gun made to that bore, and wanted to know what it would cost. Tho gunsmith figured on it nnd told the gentleman he would do it for $20, but in asmuch as he furnished tho bore he would knock otfseventy-five cents, which proved satisfactory, and to the surprise of the gunsmith the gentleman counted out the money, and saying he would send for the gun, departed. His last exploit was going into a tuilor shop and producing n button wanted a pair of pants made to match it. As the button was a brass one and had fonr holes punched in it, the tailor got mad and fired the gentleman out of the shop, much :o his astonishment nod indigna tion.
