Mutual Life lusurauco.
The attention of our readers is direct
ed to the annual statement of the Mutu
al Life Insurance Company of New York,
presented in another column. This great
institution now 1ms assets amounting to
$1M,702,057,92 and a surplus of more than
$12,000,000. It paid on policies last
year $12,040,112 a considerable portion
of which sum went directly to widows
or orphans, in many instances redeem
ing homes from absolute desolation.
The mutual differs from most other Life
Companies in that it n^ver encourages
speculation in insurance and never so"
licits tho insured to tako a larger policy
than he can afford to carry. It does be-
lievo in moderate policies however and
i*s aim is to persuade business men to
set apart n small share of their profits
yearly to provide for their families in the '
event of death or financial disaster. It
bos materially reduced its premium rates
and in every feature of liberality and
safety it stands without a par in this or !
any other country. The report will j
well ropny perusal.
