The receipt s for tbe week ending
Friday night are greatly in excess
of those of last week, being 12,352
bales, against 6,356 bales lost week,
and against same week of 1881
36,078 bales, and against 1880
same date of9l,128 bales.
Stocks in interior towns on last
Friday night, were 14,827 bales,
against 40,452 bales In 1881. The
stock nt Macon on Friday night
was 896 bales, against 1^16' bales N
in 1881, at corresponding date.
The total visible supply of cot
ton in sight on Friday last was
1,381,807 bales, against 1,729,087
bales in 1881, and 1,807,123 hales
in 1880. These figures indicate a
decrease in tho supply of ootton in
sight on Fridsy last of 347,280
bales, as compared with 1881 and
an incrcaso of 74,684 bales,ns com
pared with 1880.
Middling cotton was quoted in
Liverpool on last Friday at 7j|d.
at tbo same date last year it was
quoted at 6 5-16d.
In somo localities rain lias done
damage to the cotton, but in gcn-|S
oral the crop Is in excellent con
dition, but dry weather is very
desirable.
