It is the economical man who succeeds
in life and is happy. Hia wife always wears
good clothes, and his children always
have plenty of syrup on their bread. He
is not worried to death by dnns, and he
don’t have to sneak np a book alley in
order to avoid the man he owes. By an
economical man I don’t mean k stingy
nmn, for there’s a big difference between
economy and stinginess. Your stingy
man don’t enjoy anything, uot even his
breath, for he's afraid to draw a full
breath for fear he won't have enough to
lost the day ont.
Economy means to buy the best At the
lowest prices, and that is the reason why
all economical people buy their furniture
of I). B. Hill, for they know that his fur
niture is well and neatly mnde, durable
and handsome, nnd sold at prices os low
as good furniture can be sold for. Thoy
know that he keeps a largo stock
and that they can make'a good selec
tion, get what they want, and there is
more in that than yon may thick, for
when you buy something you do not
want you are never satisfied with it
are nearest each other. Thus all

things as possible at ono store, knowing
that when ho rnns up u good bill ho can
always get a good reduction, nnd that is
another reason why ho buys at Hill’s
Furniture Store, for there be can not only
find all kinds of furniture, but bo can
buy dishes, crockory, lamps, silver and
plated ware, curtains, cutlery, and in fact
almost anything to set up housekeeping.
Your economical mau knows ull.this and
don’t fool away his timo and money by
running all over town after things that
he can purchase at one place, nnd ho
knows that Hill is always liberal to good

Finally nnd in conclusion, ray hearers,
I can say that true economy consists in
buying your furniture and housekeeping
goods at D. B. Hill’s Furniture Storo,
which you will find on Cotton Avenue,
in Amoricus.

third by Skinucr, September 21st.
Seldom is an attempt made lo com

tions as these. But the great in

to warrant the attempt. While the

of yesterday arc not yet complete
ly traced out, enough lias been
learned to satisfy all immediate re
quirements. Tlie elements of tlie
orbit, as found by Professor Frishy
and Skinner, are tlissp; PcrihePon
passage, Greenwich time, 5 p. in.,
September 17tli; longitude of the
nodc,32G degrees, 27 minutes; node
to perihelion, 70 degrees, SO min
utes; inclination, 37 degrees, 48
minutes; perihelion distance, 800,-
000 miles; motion, letrogadc. Tlie
following are the views of Prof.
Boss, of the Dudley Observatory,
as gained from him in conversa
tion yesterday evening. He says;
As computed by these gentlemen,
tlie accordance of the elements
above given, with those of the great
comet of 1880 is all that could Imvc
been expected, even weru it known
to a certainty that tlie two bodies
arc one and tlie snme. Tlie longi
tude of tlie node und tlie distance
from perihelion to the node might
have any values, from zero to 300 J .
lu order that it may lie seen how
close is the correspondence oi the
above elements with those of the
1880 comet, tlie latter are given
front the recent calculations of
Meyer. They are; node to perihe
lion, 77° 64m; inclination,30° 52m;
perihelion distance, 544,000 miles.
IT WILL THUS HE SEEN
that the inclinations dificr less than
one degree and the perihelion dis
tances less tliun 300,000 miles. This
difference uud the difference be
tween the longitudes of the nodes
is regurded Iiy Prof. Boss as quite
within the errors of calculations
made on such comparative slender
data. Tlie dillcreucc between the
first calculations of perihelion dis
tance of the Weils comet, made
Irom observations having miiub
greater intervals lietwcen them than
ill the present case was far greater
than this. The perihelion distance
of this comet, 800,000 miles, is
returned anywhere between the
middle of March und tlie middle of
May in any year the chances of it
being seen from tlie earth would
be almost nothing, because it
would have approached the sun tlie
side opposite the earth, and after
passing verv closely around it
would
ALSO HAVE GONE BACK AGAIN
on the side opposite the caitli.
Tims tlie comet may have returned
once or twice or even three times
in the interval between 1843 niul
1880 without haying been seen
from the earth. Consequently
there may have been a gradual
diminution of periodic time. If,
however, there lias'been u sudden
reduction of the periodic time from
thirty-seven to a little more than
two nnd a half, it follows almost
certainly tiiat the next reduction
may be proportionately great. Wo
may even have the comet crashing
into tlie sun next year. What the
result of that crash may bo is a
problem yet to lie solved. It must
now be conceded that a comet lias
a solid nucleus. The nucleus of
tlie Wells comet was distinctly
seen in an observation at tlie Dud
ley Observatory on June Utb last,
and wns estimated to be not less
than 400 iniies in diameter. Tlio
nucleus of the present comet is
probably much' larger, and wlion
we remember that this comet
Garfield bad as trlkingly intellec
tual and decisive face, and bis front
cerebral developments would have
interested Lavater and Spurzheim.
His forehead was broad, slightly
retreating nnd manly. Casuallty,
eventuality and comparison were
conspicuous. The developments
over the eyes, heavy and Jutting,
showed quick perception and ex-
cellentjudgmentof men and things.
The slightly arched nose and firm
mouth indicated resolution, not
stubbornness. Mr. Arthur’s fore
head is moro uniform in develop-''
ineiit and evinces a brain far infer-
i >r to that of General Garfield.
There are no prominent organs.
Ilis forehead lias a dcoidcdly wom
anish evenness. His nose Is a pug,
which shows more stubbornness
than lesolution. He would never
have been selected by Napoleon for
a daring enterprise which was .to
he carried out by persistency. The
liorso nose, such as Macdonald po-
scssed, and which Garfield posess-
ed only in nn iaforlordegree,alone
suited that warrior. There is some
thing in the large, loll nostril,
slightly beaked, whloh gives per-, .
sistcncy. Garfield cared little for'
the arrangement of'his hair. Ar- '
tlmr cuts his hair short in front
and parts it, like a woman, in the
middle. It is pretty and Miss
Nancyish. The average English
man is fond of parting bis hair in
the middle, bat be never sets the

with a velocity of 480 miles per
second, no one can venture an ade
quate or accurate estimate oi tlie
possible consequences. Whenever
that event shall happen it will be
important for astronomers to have
some warning. Most fortunately
the elements of this cornet indicate
that it will he much longer in view
than were either of the comets in
1843 or 1880, so that there will lie
somo chance to determine the form
of tlie orbit, and thus the time
to elapse before it comes hack
again. Again, this comet will have
-tlie advantage of having excited
most intense interest, and it will
therefore ho observed with a fre
quency and care such as has fallen
to the lot ot no comet in the his
tory of astronomy. According to
tlie present elements the courtit was
10,000,000 miles from the sun on
September 19, end 25,000,000 on
the 21. On tlie former date it was
103,000,000 miles from tlie earth,
und on the latter 100,000,000. It

is that of a loyier of good eating,
and sensual, and thus very unlike
Garfield’s. Arthur rejoices in the
Burnside cut ot ! beafd. Garfield
wore his full. The Burnside out is
the fashion among the swells whose
objeet is to conquer woman. The
now President’s face will not look
well alongside of the alert, eagle
nosed John Tyler, the placid, se
rene, conservative Fillmore, and
thoughtful-looking Andrew John
son. Beside theportraUs of Wash
ington, Adams, Jefierson, Madison
and Jackson, it will be a dead tail-'
urc. There is a great deal in a
face. It is really an index of the
man. Judged by physiognomy
and phrenology, and by compari
son independent of these sciences,
actual or so-called * Arthur was
never born for statesmanship.
"Some men aro born great, some

in his case Colliding was
