Thi proprietor of the Kkoordeb hav- log been many times soliclteil during the psst year to Isboo a dally popor, and ho tiering that the time lma come when Ameriena can giro a tiring support to an«b a paper, baa concluded to make a canvas* of the city, and if sufficient sup port ia guaranteed the Reoobdeii will be liaried as a Daily on and after Tuesday, Sept. 10th, being itaned every morning except Monday. The paper will be a aix column folio, the present alas ef the Tri-Weekly, and the price will he fifty Cents per month, payable' monthly. While it will not con tain fall Associated Tress telegraphic re ports, we expect to make arrangements by wbioh alt erents of special importance will be sent as special telegrams. In taking this step we are fully aware Of tbe additional expense and labor in volved, end have no hope of realising any immediate proOt from tbo venlnrc. All weeek ia sufficient support to pay Ita Way. We believe that the publication of • daily psper in Amsricus will lie of great beueBt to tbe ally in a number of ways. It wilt prove of great convenience io our merchant*, of internt b> the people gen erally, and serre to giro our city a greater reputation abroad for enterprise and pros perity. But we donotinlend to advsnce any argument In favor of it. Our propo sition Is purely a business one. If tbe people of Ameriont went e daily psper, ws srs prepared to giro them one; if they do not, we do not|care to force one upon them. Ourctnvasaer will call upon onr peo ple during the week to receive their sub scriptions sod advertisements, sml we hope all will give him a prompt answer —yet or no—as the time is limited nnd he cannot enter into arguments. In csss lbs Daily is alarted, tire Tri- Weekly will be discontiaucd. • The Montezuma Record is pit 1 - ticulnrly severe-upon the notion ot the recent senatorial convention held in this city. It says it has found but one man in Mncon coun ty who does not condemn the no tion of the convention, and that man was the delegate from Macon who acted with the Sumter delega tion. The Record even goes so far as to say that it does "not believe that it would be a breach oFdomo- cratio principles for Mr. Murray to make the race for senator, consid ering the way he was treated in the nominating convention at Amori- eus.” If this is the way the peo ple of Macon county feel, it was peculiarly unfortunate that one ol the delegates representing them should have contributed the nec essary half vote to bring about a state of things they so strongly condemn. Tbe prohibition party of Georgia has deoided to put a prohibition electoral ticket in the field. A call has been issued for a convention of tbe temperance |>eoplo. The con vention will be held in Use Good Templars’ Hall, Atlanta, on Satur day, the 13th Inst., and will he call ed to older at 10 o'clock a. in. The Republican publishes, as an item or news, the proceedings of the senatorial convention of 1817. From a perusal of this ancient news it would scorn that the Demo cracy of this distriot were not up to the standard in those days, us we fall to find any notice of the convention adopting a resolution pledging tbo candidates and their friends to support the nominee. Tbe Dakota farmers are having a bad year in the midst of good crops. They say it costs ono bushel of wheat to send three to market, nnd It costa 1,000 feet ol lumber to get 3,000 from Minnesota. These are only general'results. The details of their transportation problems are still more exasperating. Some day their grain will go down the Mtssouri river and their lumber will go up it. HKI’ltKHENTATI VE FOR WEBSTER. I’rkstox Qa., Sepl. 4th, 1884. After earnest nnd continued per suasion, the lion. I). H. Harrell, has at last consented to enter the race for Representative of Web ster County, subject to nomina tion by the Democratic party. It should he the aim of every good oitizen ol the county to use his utmost endeavors to scenic his rumination, us lie is beyond con troversy one of the best nnd most influential uien^jmt only in tills, but any other county in the Stale of Georgia. Judge Harrell was nominated and elected to the Stule Constitutional Convention of 1877, from our county, and all are oom polled to admit that whenever Ids voice was raised or his vote cast it was cast on the side of economy, justice, and right. Tho beloved and honored old veteran, Robt. H. Toombs, to use his own lan guage, says that Dave Harrell was one of the most useful and influen tial members of that convention, nnd Kx-Governoi Jenkins, the president of that convention, after its adjournment complimented him in tlie highest terms, and said that be wns indebted to Mr. Harrell for much information anil assist anee, and would over remember hint as a warm friend, and true to his country’s welfare. Let the good citizens of Webster County turn out on the 20lh inst. in their respective districts and nominate him for the legislature, and we and our children will ever have cause to lie prou d of it. Wkiister County. The business announcement of this paper, headed “To Our Pet rolls,” seems to be just as well suited to the patrons of the Grinin Sun as it docs to those of the Rec ord.—Montezuma Record. As the “business announcement” consisted in a very strong appeal to the delinquent subscribers to walk up to the captain's oflice and settle, wc presume it would be well suited to a majority of the papers in Georgia. Secretary of the Treasury Folger died at his home iu Geneva, N. V., ou Thursday afternoon, and the National treasury is now without a head, Assistant Secretary French being in Europe. There seems to have appeared a “Judas Iscariot” m tho Americua senatorial convention.—Montezu ma Record. The Mshoneites, having gobbled JI'UIIK CRISP’S APPOINTMENTS Charles F. It is ex pected every congressional distriot will elect a democrat to congress. This result was inevitable. No party led by such a demagogue and trickster as Malione can long escape defeat when it Is resolutely resisted. Last spring the Utaine advocates were urging that if bo should be made the candidate the Western Slate* would roll up in November the biggeat republican majorities ever beard of.
