THE AMERICUS DAILY TIMES-RECORDER: FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 1891. [This Correspoidence Speaks for Itself. with-liold name# for obvious reasons). Office Peddle & Co. Having given a trial order to John R. Shaw, the champion Clothier and Outfitter of this city, I am so well pleased with the result in every way that I shall con tinue to give him my patron age. Yours respectfully, JOHN R.SHAW Announces to bis friends and pat rons that he .is prepared to furnish THE BEST GOODS. rS3 AND GUARANTEES PERFECT FIT ABOARD OF TRADE. WILL BE ORGANIZED EARLY NEXT WEEK. Tlie Citizen* Thoroughly Aroused to the KeceMlty of it—And u Sleeting Will be Culled for Koine Day Next Week—The llight Move. The tkne Is ripe. For Americus to organize that long- taiked-of board of trade. The business men .are ready and anx ions for the move, and not a single oijo in the city can be found who will rot readily join in. Often has this subject been broached, and it has .always met with favorable consideration. However, it always end ed with consideration, and no steps of any nature were taken toward the or ganization of such a body. The people all thought that it -would be a good thing, but nobody took the matter in band to get the people together. A few days since The Times-Record- er mentioned the subloct again, and spoke of the many advantages which were bound to accrue. While all these points were already fully realized, the article put some of them to work, and they mure than ever see the necessity of having a body of this nature. Amer- Icus has now more to grapple with than she has ever had in her history, and a compact organization is necessary to do tills in the best manner. The many questions constantly arising can bo bandied for the best good of our city only by combined action of the citizens who have have her best good at heart. These questions, becoming daily more numerous, must be met, and single cit izens, no matter how numerous and earnest in their efforts, can not regulate and control them like a body. Realizing this, and that now is a time in our growth w hen tlie efforts of such a body can be put to tbo best use, the leading men of the city have been earn estly working up the matter. As a result it lias been found that all are heartily willing to enter the move ment at any time. This being found the case, it is only necessary to call a meeting and organ ize. This will be done next week. A call will be issued through The Times-Recorder, and the men who are singly working for the upbuilding of the city will bind themselves together Answer to Above. Americus, Ga„ Feb. 6, 1891. Messrs. Peddle & Co., Chica go, Ill., Gentlemen:—I shall not trouble your agent to call on me this season. Yesterday morning just before noon, an alarm of fire was turned in, and tlie companies turned out in splendid time. Their services were not needed, how ever, as the fire had not acquired much headway, and was put out with a few buckets of water. It was tlie dwelling of .Tim Russel], on Forrest street, and is thought to have been caused by spatks from the chimney falling among some leaves on top. The Guard House Full. The city boarding house had every room occupied yesterday, and in some of the cells there were several. Work on tlie residence of Mr. Frank Lanier, Jr., is being pushed rapidly, and is fast assuming proportions. That of Judge Ansley is also being worked upon by a large force of hands. These two residences will add much to the already great beauty of this pop ular residence street. , JAS. Drought ILack the Horse. Mr. George Smith, ton of Capt James Smith, returned from Leesburg yester day, bringing with him tho horse stolen by McXaughton. The animal is stiff and sore, and was evidently ridden very hard.
