The Art of Advertising..
Advertising seems to be an art yet to
be discovered by same people. That
la, the practical part of it A con
stant stream of water from one or more
fire engines will soon extinguish or get
under control a very huge fin, while a
few backets of water, dashed on here
and there, have little or no effect The
modern fire department is practical, and
has outgrown the old backet system;
end so with modern advertising—plenty
of it, used in a practical, common sense
and judicious munner, pays.
If yon want to catch a certain kind of
fish yon use a certain kind of bait; not
all fish bite at all kinds of bait Not all
people respond to every advertisement
The newspaper is a medium indispen
sable to the majority of advertisers, be
cause of its wide and repeating circula
tion. As u promoter of trade and profit
nowspaper advertising is no longer an
open question; that is, when done in a
practical and intelligent manner, and
pays because of its effectiveness and
cheapness.—Beatrice (Neb.) Democrat
Spasmodic Advertising.
We nil recognize that as between the
fellow who works "by fits and starts'
and tbe chap who plods along and keeps
at it steadily, tbe plodder gets there
every time. The .spasmodic fellow may
create an occasional impression, bat the
results of his fitful labors are dissipated
in the intervals.
The occasional display of fireworks
only serves the purpose of preventing his
being forgotten altogether; while the
man who works, and keeps working, con-
stantiy improves his position and pros'
poets.
So it is with advertising. It is the re
peated “ad” and the sustained effort that
telL We don't mean the “ad” that is
never changed, bat the one that is ever
changing, but never omitted! The wise
advertiser keeps always before tbe peo
ple to whom he desires to sell his wares.
When yon want to quit.doing business
stop advertising, or advertise only "once
in a while."
Do Urlert Be Pointed I
In preparing their announcements ad
vertisern will usually do well to confine
their statements to one, or at most, a
very few points. Few persons con do
well more than one thing at a time, and
it is much the same with the memory;
but one or two points in any statement
make on impression and are retained.
As the number of points is Increased tbe
probability of any of them making an
impression and bringing returns is pro
portionately reduced.
Criticising a Young Lady.
“She would be a pretty girl but for one
thing.” - .
“What’s that?” asked Charley.
George—“Her face Is always covered
with purple and red blotches.”
Charley—“Oh, that's easily enough
disposed of. Used to be the same way
myself, bnt I caught on to the trouble
one day, and got rid of it lo no time.”
George—“What waa it?"
Charley—"Simply blood eruption.
Took a short couse of P. P. P. I tell
you, It’s the boss blood corrector. The
governor had rheumatism so bad|that you
could hear him holler clear across the

“Too Mnch Is Plenty."
An advertisement for a wife in a Col
orado paper brought such a heavy mail
to the advertiser, Ur. Panl White, a
prosperous ranchman at Rocky Ford,
Coil., that he had to convey it from the
poatoifiee to hia ranch in bamlatn his
farm wagon. For a month be has spent
Us evenings perusing hia correspond

Thn Merriest (ilrl That's Out.
“Bonnie, Sweet Bessie, tbe Maid of
Dundee,” waa, no doubt, the kind of a
girl to ask, “What are the wild waves
saying?” or to put “alittle faded flower"
in your button hole, slio was so full of
vivacity and beaming witli robust
health. Every girl in the land can ho
just as full of life, just a» well, and just
as merry aa she, since I)r. Pierce has
placed hia Favorite Prescription within
reach of all. Young'girls in their teens
passing the age of puberty find it a great
aid. Delicate, pale and sickly girls will
find tills a wonderful invigorator, and a

are not exempt, attacking the young as
well as tbe old, caused no donbt from
our mode of living and the too free use
of tobacco, eto., and yet it ia one of the
most difficult diseases we bare to en

Prominent Doctor Accused at Murder!
A gentleman recently made a startling
accusation in the lioaring of the writer.
Said lie: “I fimly believe that Dr. ,
intentionally or unintentionally killed
my wife. He prououned her complaint
—consumption—Incurable. She accept
ed the verdict, and died. Yet, since
then, I have heard of at least a dozen
cases, quite as far advanced ns hers, that
have been cured by Dr. Pierce’* Golden
Medical Discovery. Her life might
have been saved, for consumption is not
incurable," Of course it is not. The
“Discovery” will remove every trace of
it, if taken in time and used faithfully.
Consumption la a disease of the blood—
a scrofulous affection—and tbe “Discov
ery" strikes at the root of the evil. For
all cases of weak lungs, spitting of
blood, severe lingering coughs and kin
dred ailments, it is a sovereign remedy.
Dyspepsia and Indigestion
In their worst forms are cured by the
use of P. P. P. If you are debilitated
and run down, or if you need a tonic to
regain flesh and lost appetite, strength
and vigor, take P. P. P., and you will be
strong and healthy. For shattered con
stitutions and lost manhood P. P. P.
(Prickly Ash, Poke Root and Potassium)
is the king of nil medicines. P. P. P. is
the greatest blood purifier in the world.
Reputation.
The reputation of a man is made up of
what people say of him. In like man
ner the reputation of a medicine de
pends on what they who have used It
say. No remedy In existence hat so
good a reputation as a blood remedy as
B. B. B. (Botanic Blood Balm). It is a
successful physician's prescription and
quickly cures both mild and terrible
cases of bad blood,
Dr, L. A. Guild, Atlanta, Ga., writes:
“Wm. Scalock, living on my place, had
an ugly running ulcer on his arm which
ordinary remedies failed to control. At
a last resort I placed him on a course of
B. B. B. and the uloer began to heal at
once, and effected an entire cure. It is
a remedy well worthy of confidence.”
Dr. J. E. Hall, Druggist at Americua,
Ga., writes'. “A planter near this place
had several of his beat laborers effected
with syphilis, ne got them B. B. B.
and pronounces them all well. A gang
of A. P. & L. railroad hands use B. B. B.
with great benefit to counteract the ef
fects of swamp malaria.”

of Anniston, Ala., who has been a suf
ferer for several year* from pulmonary
