THE AMERICUS DAILY TIMES-RECORDER: SUNDAY, APRIL 26 1891, THE FISHERMEN. Thanks to Americas People. The reader* of Tee Times-Recordeh ( will remember the death and burial on April 5th of Mr. Crowell of the Adele Frost Co., while in Americus, and the kindness shown to the sick man by the T f people at the Hawkins House, and ( others at the time of his death. The brother of Mr. Crowell, a promi nent banker of Newport News, Va., came here on the sad occasion, and was much impressed by the friendly feelings exhibited towards his brother and him self, aud the subjoined letter is written to express Ids thanks for the courtesies shown him: W. H. Tondee, Esq., Americus, Ga. My Dear Sin: I am very desirous of acknowledging my appreciation of the generous hearted kindness of the good people of Americus in my recont be reavement, and know of no better way, if you will kindly do so, than to publish this letter in your city paper. I would gladly make individual ac knowledgement, and shall do so as far as possible, but none Rliould bo omitted. Not one who extended the tender hand of alleviation toward my sick and dying brother, a stranger in a strange land, or who boro a feeling of sympathy, can bo overlooked. How hard it is to bow submissively to the will of God. But oh, people of Americus, how much are the fangs of sorrow softened by cordial and honest sympathies, and deeds of kindness, such as you have shown, and for which the hospitable south is so justly famous. “Harden not your hearts,” in a divine admonition, shown on good ground in ^ HAVE ALL RETURNED SAFE SOUND FROM THEIR TRIP. The members of the A mericus Fish ing Club returned yesterday morning. Forth© past week they have been off on an excursion, and to say that they had a delightful time is superilous. They have been camped at Atkinson’s station, just twenty-four miles from Brunswick on the Satilla river. As to the sport they had The Times- Recorder feels a delicacy in stating, so leaves the matter to the fishermen them selves, a quotation from each of whom appears below. \V r . II. The following call has been issued to the Confederate veterans by Col. Cutts: To tho Confederate Veterans of Sumter and Adjoining Counties: That noble and patriotic band of la dies composing the Momorial Associa tion again remind us of our duty—to meet around the graves of our deceased comrades and pay an annual tribute on this Memorial Day to the memory of tho gallant dead. To keep fresh in our hearts their heroic deeds and their devo tion to duty and their country. Will you not heed a call to perform a sacred duty, when made as It is done, annually, from tho fair and noble women of the south? You who have stood side by side in the hour of trial, and witnessed the brave and gallant deeds of these, your fallen comrades. Your devotion to duty j under all the trying circumstances of a camp life and the battlefield would seem to be a guarantee on this occasion that you would perform this the noblest duty of all, paying a heartfelt tribute to the memory of the heroic dead. i Then let nothing prevent you from at tending the Memorial meetiug on Mon- A.
