Whilo wo post css all the requisites necessary for the success of a legiti mate and dashing business, WE HAVE THE LARGEST AND FINEST STORE IN THE CITY, WE HAVE TIIE LARGEST AND FINEST STOCK IN THE CITY, and wt are known throughout this section as the The excursion of the Perry Sunday schools to Americus yesterday was a mos‘ enjoyable and successful affair In every respect Having visited Americus before, they knew what to expect In' the way of generous, openhanded hospitality, but in the entertainment of her visitors yester day all former efforts were surpassed and the excursionists departed more favorably impressed than ever with Americus and her people. At 10:15 o'clock the special train of six well filled coaches drew up at the Spring street crossing, opposite Magnolia dell, where the picnicers were to spend the day. The special committees, together with a large number of cltizous, were on hand to receive the visitors and oxtend them a hearty welcome to south vest Georgia’s busy metropolis. There were nearly fonr hundred excursionists in the party, and the beautiful dell was soon a scene of merrimeut. After all had assembled about the platform Judge Crisp, In his usual happy manner, weloomed the* guests upon be half of the city. Mr. M. Callaway, su perintendent of the Baptist Sunday school here, followed Judge Crisp in a short welcoming address upon behalf of the Americus schools. Responses were made by Messrs. A. C. Riley and Fred Houser, of Perry, both of whom were loud In their praises of Americus and the hospitable manner in which she had received the visitors, song service of half an hour followed the speeches, after which the children were turned loose to have all the fun they wanted. As the hour of high noon approached, the big baskets were opened and their contents spread temptingly upon the long tables arranged in the center of the dell. A description of such a dinner as It was is simply out of the question, and will not be attempted here. Suffice it to say most assiduous attention was paid the festal board for more than an hour, and even then considerably more than twelve basketsfull were taken up. The afternoon was spent in the usual way—games, twinging, boat-riding on the lake, love-making, etc., in which a large majority of the younger element of the party took an aottve part, while the older ones looked on with pleasure and thought of the time when they were young and went to picnics in tho good old days of our fathers. Many of the visitors were taken in band by citizens who had carriages and were given a drive over the town. Some of these had never visited Americus be fore, and many expressions of admira tion, were heard as the carriages rolled through the beautifully shaded streets to the various points of interest about the city. Promptly at 4 o'clock the signal whistle was heard, and the crowd re paired tn the depot to take the train for home. It was a jolly, happy crowd that filled the handsome coaches, and it was not without regret that the goodbyes on both sides were said. The day had proved a most enjoyable one for all, and each visitor carried away only tho pleas antest recollections of Americus and her hospitable people.
