Mr. W. E. Butt, a well known Buena
Vista young man, spent a portion of
yesterday in Ameridus.
Miss Helen Worthy, ono of Sumter’B
fairest daughters, is tile guest of friends
and relatives in Americus.
Mrs. J. W. Stallings left for her home
at Smithvilie yesterday, after a pleasant
stay with Americus friends.
Mr. Isom Cain returned yesterday
from Augusta, where lie was an attend
ant at the Kersh-Snoad wedding.
Mr. George T. Williams catno down
from Oglethorpe last night to spend
to-day with relatives near the city.
Mrs. S. M. Hollis, of Marion county,
and Mis. Clara Taylor, of Lee, are pleas
ant visitors to Mrs. Judgo Fort and Mrs.
E, G. Simmons.
Mrs. Frank Lanier, jr., to the delight
of many friends In Americus, returned
yesterday from a pleasant stay with rela
tives in Carrollton.
Mr. j. B. McElveeu, one of the lead
ing commission merchants of Bruns
wick, spent yesterday in Americus. He
thinks of locating here.
Hon. James M. Dupree, Judge W. H.
Fish and Col. J. W. Haygood were down
from Macon county yesterday arguing
motions before Judge Fort.
Capt S. R. Woston, president of the
Albany, Florida and Northern road, was
up from Albany yesterday in consulta
tion with the Americus owners of that
road.
Mrs. J. F. Watson, of Smithvilie, who
has been here several days on a shopping
expedition, returned homo to Smithvilie.
She was accompanied by Judge Watson,
who has been attending court here, and
their little daughter.
Capt. H. M. Stokes, ono of the most
accommodating conductors on the Sa
vannah, Americus and Montgomery
road, returned yesterday from St. Louis,
where he went to attend a meeting of
the Order of Railway Conductors. Capt.
Stokes made the trip through Toxas and
the west with the conductors, and re
ports a splendid time.
