Martin, of Lee, was in Americus yesterday as a witness in the MeXortonJease. Mr. W. R. Bunkley, a well known Leesburg merchant, was in Americus buying goods yesterday. Prof' and Mrs. L. D. Lockhart arrived at home yesterday after a pleasant stay with relatives in Dawson. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hudson came over yesterday from Preston and spent the day with friends in the city. Hon. W. D. Wells and Mr. Joe F, Johnson were among Smithville's repre sentatives in Ameribus yesterday. Mr. II. C. Arrington, one of Ellaville’s leading merchants, looked after busi ness matters in Americus yesterday. Messrs. G. W. Martin and W. D. Lig- gen, two well known Leo county plant ers, were araoDg the visitors to Ameri cas yesterday. Mr. O. A. Coleman loft yesterday on a several days trip to Louisville, Ga., In the interest of tho Georgia Loan and Trust company. Captain W. A. Seals, one of Sumter's successful farmers, was in the city yes terday attending court and expatiating on his splendid crops. Mr. J. F. Woods, Schley’s popular sheriff, was in Americus yesterday on his return from IHUedgeville, where he placed a lunatic in tho asylum. Mr. G. W. Bullock was down from Buena Vista yesterday looking after business matters and exchanging greet ings with his Americus friends. Mr. Charlton Battle, a leading mem ber of the Columbus bar, is among tho attorneys from a distance who are in at tendance upon Sumbter superior court. Crpt. H. P. Snyder, one of tho most popular and most efficient conductors on the S. y A. & M. leaves to-day for Lan< caster, Mo., where he goes to accom pany his wife home. Mrs. Snyder has been in Lancaster several weeks. Dr. R. C. Black returned Sunday from Florida, where he has been for the past several months recuperating. Ills Americas friends were glad to see him again and to know that his general health is much better than when he left. Miss Laura Mauur, of Allendale, S.
