John A. Cobb went down to Sraithville yesterday. Mrs. E. E. Mayes, of the Plains, visited Atnericus friends yesteniay Mr. Frauk Lanier, jr., left yesterday on a business trip to Macon. Mrs. F. M. Oliver, of Bronwood, is % visiting relatives in Amciicus. Miss Elba Williams of Columbus is the guest of friends near Americus. Miss LeilaFeagin is here from Atlan ta, the guest of friends and relatives. Mr. R. Don McLeod is in the city again, after a business trip to Fort Val ley Col. B. P. Hollis left yesterday for Athens, where he will spend several days. Miss Llvia Cobb is at home in Ameri cus again, after a visit to friends in Preston. Mr. W. E. Hawkins and Mr. S. II. Hawkins, jr., have returned from * trip to Macon, Capt. J. L. Hardeman was down from from Macon yesteniay on a Hying visit to Americus. Miss Ethel McGregor, of Baxley, ar rived here yesterday on a visit to friends and relatives. Mr. aud Mrs. A. S. Poole were among those who went on the excursion to Sa vannah yesterday. Mr. J. B. D. Woodburn and wife were over from Abbeville yesterday on shopping expedition. Miss Mervln (’aliaway will leave soon fora trip to New York and other points of interest north nnd east. Miss Mollie Willett, who has been visiting friends at Brouwood, returned home to Americus yesterday. Mr. J. W. SUctHold Is In Albany visit ing his son, Mr. Frank Shellield, and looking after his business interests. Miss Brice Pilsbury and little Miss Alice Massey, aftor pleasant stay with Bronwood friends, arrived at homo yes terday. Mrs. E.G.Simmons’ many friends will be glad to know that she has almost completely recovered from her recent illness. Miss Annie Nelson, of Pelham, ar rived In Americus yesterday to spend several days as the guest of her friend, Miss Carrie Cloraonts. Mr. S. J. Mr. I’reston Pearson, of I.umpkin, who has been attending Mercer Univer sity during the terra just ended, was in Americus yesterday on Ills way home. Dupont Gnerry and wife, who have been with relatives and frlcn.1, in Americus for several days ret iirned home to Macon yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Guerry are very popular here, and a hearty welcome will always await them la Americus. Home Idiire KtiKlnn. Yesterday the 8., A A M. road re ceived the two largest engines ever brought to Georgia. They are number ed 11 Hand 120 and are named E II. Lewis, in honor of Mr. K. B. Lewis of Montezuma a staunch friend of the road and Charles F. Crisp, after the speaker of the next house. The engines are of the “hog” pattern. The drivers are fifty-four inch ones and the cylinders are 10x24, with ex tension front. The engines are of the best that could be turned out by the Baldwin works and weigh sixty tons each. Two more engines just like these will arrive to-day or to-morrow. They will be used in haudliug the heavy through freights between Montgomery and Sa vannah for Infants and Children. tiitlw Mat.
