The address .of Mr P. D. Wimberly,
alliance lecturer for the third congres
sional district, at the court house yester-
day waa not aa well attended as it should
have been, on account of the shortness
of the notice, but the court room was
well filled by alliancemen and business
men of the city.
Mr. Wimberly's address was conllued
principally to adiscuislou of the flnan
clal qestion, and the manner in which be
handled it not only showed that be was
perfectly familiar with the subject, but
It appealed to the sympathy and sense
of justice of every one present He dis
cussed the question from the people'!
standpoint, and in advocating the free
coinage of sliver and tho governments'
doty to supply the people with a reason
able amount of circulating medium he
enunciated true democratic doctrine,
•echaa is unqualifiedly endorsed by the
democrats of this.seclion.
Mr Wimberly did not array one class
nst another, but plalply showed that
the same
merchant. He
confined himself to the broad ground
that the interests of the great majority
of the people were Identical, and could
be best subserved by such legislation os
would afford relief to all.
ife made no attack upon classes or
corporations, but by faets nnd figures
made It apparent that we were suffering
solely by adopting foreign instead of
American methods of finance.
He advocated the free coinage of ail
ver and the issuance by the government
of such'a volume of currency as would
secure au amount of circulating medium
as would put It out ot the power of a
few individuals to control the finances
of the country and put it out pf the
power of foreign capitalists to Control
and fix the prices of American products,
He very plainly showed that the prin
ciples advocated by the alliance were in
strict conformity with the political prin
ciples of American freedom, and were ia
ition of the-' policy of

such publie addresses would convince

Among those present were Judge
