A pleasant party of society young
people enjoyed s horseback ride by
moonlight last evening.
The Savannah, Americus and Moot*
gomery road has purchased Ur. Thoe.
E. Greene’s house and lot and a valua
ble lot from Ur. D. K. Brinson. The
considerations wore quite valuable.
A nest of seven young foxes which
were captured near the city by a negro
were exhibited In Americus yesterday.
They were bought by parties who will
run them when they have grown larger.
Four large sturgeon, the smallest
weighing forty-six pounds and the larg
est sixty odd pounds, were brought to
the city yesterday and sold by Mr. B. R.
McDonald. They were caught in nets In
Flint river.

Yesterday Mr. Look L. Chapman
bought Mr. R. S. Windsor’s bouse and
lot on Brannan avenue. He and hit sis
ters, Misses Emmie and Mary Chapman,
will soon move there, when they will
be numbered among the housekeepers of
Americus,
One of the features of the services at
the Methodist churob this morning will
be the singing of Mr. C. D. McCardel of
Macon. This gentleman it a member of
tbe First Baptist ohoir of Macon. He
has a rich and strong bass voice. He
will sing a solo and assist tbe eholr In
Its selections.
So greatly pleased Is he with Ameri
cus that Mr. H. A. Seelye, of New De
catur, Ala., has about decided to move
Ills extensive business here. The only
thing that stands in the way of his com
ing is his inability to get a store room,
snd he expects to make satisfactory ar
rangements about that
Watermelons are moving to market

western road ran several special trains
through Americus in order to dispose of
the traffic in that line. Tbe shipments
from Florida and lower Georgia average
well nigh a hundred cars a day now.
The Americus business school will
formally open its session to-morrow.
The rates of tuition will be: For tbe

Tho soldier boys of the Second Geor
gia Regiment will be supplied with

Fifteen hundred rations of bread,
meat, vegetables and trimmings will be
required daily. Those who had the let-
ting of the contract were well pleased

that the boys of the Second Georgia will
live in clover while at Clilcktmauga.
About two car loads of supplies will be
requited daily, and they will be shipped
to Chickamauga fresh every day.
