The Sunday school convention of the
Friendship Asssoclatlon convenes with
the Amerlcus Baptist church to-day, to
continue la session for three days.
The convention Is non sectarian and
all the Sunday achouls In the confines of
the association have been requested to
send at least four delegates, male and
female. There are quite a number of
these churches and it Is likely that a
large number of delegatea will be In at
tendance upon the convention.
All these delegatea will be entertained
by the boapltable people of Amerlcus,
and as they arrive they are requested to
report at once to the committee on re
ception Messrs. M. Callaway, U. S.
Lockett and George Stapleton, so that
homes may be provided for them during
their stay in the city. This committee
will meet nil train* to receive and wel
come the delegates.
Already those who are to attend the
convention have begun to arrive. Others
will come in on the trains this morning
and by the time the convention Is called
to order at 11 o’clock there will be many
Interested Suuday school workers in
Americas. During the day the other
delegate! will arrive, and by night the
convention will be settled down to busi
ness in good sliape.
Everybody In Amerlcus wiio feels au
interest In Sunday school work, without
regard to creed or denomination, is In
vited to attend the meetings of the con
vention, Much will be done tbere that
will be of interest to Sunday school
workers, and a new Impetus will be
given Sunday schools by this meeting.
The services will bo held at the Bap
tist tabernacle, which will furnish a
pleasant place for the meetings. The
programme which will be carried out
during the session of the convention Is
as follows;
Friday—11 a. m.—Sermon by Rev. J.
W. Beck; text, Deut. 31, 15.
2 p. m —Organization and enrollment
of menengers.
Appointment of committees. First,
conditions of the work. Second, recom
mendations. Third, destitute fields.
Reports from vice-presidents, superin
tendents and pastors.
Address by Rev. W. H. I’attcrsou.
Subject: “The needs of the work in
our association and how they shall be
met.”
8 p. m.—Sermon by Rev. W. L. Cutta.
Saturday—9 a. m.— Renewal of coll for
messengers and visiting brethren and
sisters.
Report of committees and other basi
nets.
Address by W. B. Hinton. Subject,
“What Is the work of tbe convention
and bow may it best be accomplished.”

“What may be expected as the results

Ills Condition CnebnoEod.
Dr, John Clarke is still suffering
much with tbe wounds which ho re
ceived at Richland Wednesday. If
there has been any change at all In Ids
condition it was for the worse. He was
suffering so much yesterday that an ex
amination of his wounds could not be
made. U is not thought now that Ids
back was broken. One of bis ribs Is
thought, however, to be fractured and it
is feared that he sustained internal in
juries.

M. J. Ross ot Eufaula died at t|ie resi
dence of Captain Samuel McGarrah In.
this city. Mrs. Ross Is a daughter of
Capt. McGarrali. When she brought the
little ono here it was quite sick and last
night the delicate cord of He life was

From a gentleman who talked with
her after the accident it was learned yes
terday that Miss Laura Jowers was not
at all wounded by tho runaway horse at
Richland, Wednesday. She was knock
ed down and bruised,but not hurt at all,
