SHAW, Men's, Youths,’ Boys’ and Children’s The carelessness of a uegro flagman at McGarrah street crossing came uear causing a serious accident yesterday evening. A switch engine was moving a lot of freight ears yesterday evening from the Central railroad depot to the upper end of the yard, just as-the funeral proces slon, which was bearing the body of little Byne Ross from the home of his parents in Brooklyn heights to the tie pot to bo carried to SmlthvlUe. The procession bad reached the tracks where McGarrah street crostos the rail road, ard the hearse was half way over when the negro flagman signalled the engineer to come on hack. Ths carriage containing the bereaved parents of the little one in tho hearse, and too ladies, leached the tracks just as the train of cars came rolling back, and it was only by the expert handling of the horses that It was saved from a frightful collision. The driver wheeled Ills horses off just in time to save the occupants of the car riage from instant death, and the hearse was hurried over on the on tho oilier side, thus dividing the procession. Mrs. Ross, whose deep grief at the loss of her little one had greatly exhausted her, fainted when she thought of its body being crushed beneath the wheels of tho cars. Slio wits so weak front the fright that It was necessary to have a physician attend her to Smithville. Those who witnessed the narrow es cape of tlio hearse and carriage, state that It was nothing but criminal care lessness on the part of tho flagman. He was near the crossing auil saw the funeral procession approaching. Saw that It was about to come upon the tracks, and yet he signaled to the en gineer that the way was clear, to come on back. This ootored flagman should be taught to respect tho rights of others, especial ly when it is a funeral cortege, and a few years in the pen might accomplish the needed reform. James W. ’ Lancaster, llawkinsvillc, Ga., writes: "My wife was in bad health for eight years. Five doctors and as many inure different patent modiclnes bad done her no good. Six bottles or B. B.
