To-day and to-morrow! Then Tues
day, the day of the grand alliance rally
and the largest crowd ever assembled in
Americus.
Everybody is talking rally; wagering In
their minds as to how many people will
be here and wondering if Sockless Jerry
really wears socks. All hands and the
cook are ready for the day and the
speakers and hoping that Uncle Jerry
Rusk will prevail on the head weather
clerk to let Tuesday bo a dny which will
be in every way propitious to the occa
sion.
Tho list of speakers has been made out
and It is as follows:

MRS. LEASE, in all probability.
This party will leave Atlanta at 7 p.
m. Monday in a special car and reach
Americus some time during Monday
night They will be met on their arrival
by a local committee on reception which
will have them in hand while here. The
party will leave some timo Tuesday
night for Atlanta.
The speaking will commence at 0:30
o'clock Tuesday morning. A recess will
be taken for dinner and the speaking re
sumed in the afternoon. It Is likely that
a brass band will discourse Inspiring
muslo tbroughont the day. A splendid
choir, composed of Americus ladies and
gentlemen of undoubted ability as vocal
ists, has been secured to render several
selections during the day. These will
tend to break the monotony of speaking
and will add much to the occasion. Pres
ident D. C. N. Burkhalter of the Sumter
County Alliance will be master of cere
monies. *
Congressmen Moses and Tom Watson,
Harry Brown and Larry Gannt, District
Lecturer Wimberly and many of the
other leading olliancemen in the state
will be here, quite likely, and they may
be called on during the dny for some
remarks.
As has been stated the Savannah &
Western road will run a special train
that day, leaving Columbus at 7 and ar
riving in Americus at 0:30 a.m. Re
turning this train will leave Americus at
4310 and arrive at Columbus at 7 p. m,
One fare for the round trip.will be
charged.
The Savannah, Americus A Montgom
ery will run a special from Albany over
the A., F. A N. and the S., A. A M.
This train will leave Albany at 030 and
arrive hero at 030 a. m. Returning it
will leave Americus at 430 and arrivo at
Albany at 730 p. m. Low rates have
been announced from all stations on
those roads. . (
A special will also be run from Macon,
on which one fare for the round trip will
be asked. It will observe this schedule:

meajaad the citizens will lee to It that
there Is dinner enough and to spare.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker were in
from LaC'rosse yesterday, on a shopping
expedition.
Mrs. Docla Toole came down from An
dersouville yesterday and spent the day
in Americus.

Col. Zero A Littlejohn was up from
Cordele yesterday, to spend the day and
look after business matters.
Mrs. George T. Williams came down
from Oglethorpe yesterday on a visit to
her father’s family near the city.

burg on a visit to his wife and children
who are spending some time in Ameri-

Mr. J. M. Persons, a well known and
prosperous Marion county planter, help
ed to swell tho list of visitors to Ameri
cas yesterday.
Mr. James Callaway left here yester
day for Macon, after a stay of several
days here. Jim Callaway Is mighty pop
ular iu Americus.
Editor R. Don McLeod, who wields
the Faber on the bright Macon County
Citizen, greeted Americus with his bean -
ing countenance yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frrnk Keen of Oglo-
thorpe were here yesterday. Mrs. Keen
was on her return homo from a visit to
relatives In Buena Vista.
Master Harry Burt,one of the brightest
and handsomest boys who ever left
Amerious, went to Macon yesterday for
a stay of several days with friends.
Master Brannon Hubbard, of Mont
gomery, Ala., a handsome' four-year
old, is visiting his grandparents, Capt
and Mrs. T. J. Brannon, on Taylor
street.

Prof. L. D. Lockhart yesterday
brought to this office some curious eggs
which were laid by' hens belonging to
Mn. Schumport. One of tho eggs is bnt
about one-third as large as the ordinary
hen egg, though it was laid by a large,
healthy hen. The other is something
•mailer than t partridge egg and was
found Id the yolk of an egg that Mrs.
Schumpert broke.
