Mr. Crawford Wheatley left early in the week for Kichlleld Springs, New York. Mr. Wheatley goes by the way of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, where ho will be joined by his cousin, Miss Flora Wheatley. They will bo absent several weeks. Many friends wish them a pleas ant trip. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Shaw left last even ing via the S. A. A- M. A- Ocean S. S. Co. route for New York, where they will make a two or three weeks, visit. They sail on the city of Birmingham to-day at 3:50. A skin of a very rare and remarkable bear-llke animal has been brought from the Chinese provlnco of Kansu to St. Petersburg by two Russian explorers. The only other specimen is in the Paris museum.
