Something of a curiosity is on exhibi
tion at Casper, Wyoming. It is an lm
print of a monster palm leaf, caused by
the leaf falling into clay and afterward
petrifying. The rock was found on Salt
creek, and indicates that ages ago wheu
the big coal beds were being formed,
Wyoming possessed a tropical climate.
Two marked improvements have re
cently been made iu the use of gas for
lighthouse illumination. One is a pro
cess of enriching gas inado from ordi
nary coking coal by the addition of
hydrocarbons and heated air; the’other
is the uew dioptric lens.
Malaria and llruken-Down Constitution.
Waycross, Ga.—Dr. II. Whitehead.
Dear Sir—At yotir request I will state
my case. Nome years ago, I contracted
malaria in its most violent form, while
living at Newark, N. J. I consulted va
rious physicians and took numberless
preparations recommended as “sure
cures,” but it stuck to me like a brother
—or more like a mother-in-law. I ti
nally came south, and while here tried
new remedies, said to always cure ma
laria, and it stiP stuck to me, and you
know the broken down condition I was
in when I came to you. You put me to
taking your P. P. P. (Prickly Ash, Poke
Root and Potassium,) and I improved
rapidly, and am to-day in as good health
as I ever was—in fact b«ttcr. As a rem
edy for a broken down constitution it
has no equal. Yours, etc.,
July28dl2tw2t T. P. Cottle.
Some rich people think that money
will pay for anything; hut it will not pay
for unkindness or discomfort.
John Quickly Extemporized Five
Bag*.
This is a meaningless sentence, hut it
contains all the letters of the alphabet,
live of these letters spell “woman,” and
large numbers of women believe in the
virtues of Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescrip
tion—a purely vogotablo compound, for
her use only, and an unfailing cure for
tho many ills teat beset her. It recuper
ates wasted strength, restores the func-
tion, and tits her to hoar and rear
healthy offspring; promotes digestion,
purities the blood, and gives activity to
the bowels and kidneys. In a werd, it
is woman’s cure and safeguard. Guar
anteed to give satisfaction, or price
($1.00) refunded.
Practice makes perfect, but the por
fectlon resulting from piano practice is
tough on tho neighbors.
Itlood Will Tell.
Of course it will—that is if it is good,
healthy blood. It will glow ill the
cheek, and tell the story of perfect
physical health. If it does not, if the
complexion is devoid of color, tho
muscles weak and tlaccld, something is
wrong, and something ought to bo done
about it at once, for in such cases delays
are dangerous. For torpid liver, “bilious
ness,” and the thousands and ono ills to
which these conditions of tiie system
lead, there is no remedy in the world
equal to Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical
Discovery. Bolls, pimples, eruptions,
scrofulous sores, salt-rheum, and all
kindred diseases are otired by It.
Recause your trouMe was occasioned
by your own faults does not make It any
the easior to bear.

It’s the only way to use some
things, but it’s a bad condition
for a man or woman. It means
disease. Take Dr. Pierce’s
Golden Medical Discovery;
That means health. It invig
orates the liver and kidneys,
purifies the blood and cleanses
and renews the whole system.
For all scrofulous humors and
blood - taints, and even con
sumption (or lung-scrofula), if
taken in time, it’s a positive
remedy. It’s a guaranteed one.
In all diseases of the liver,
blood and lungs, it’s warranted
to benefit or cure, or the
money is refunded. No other
medicine of its class is sold,
through druggists, on this pe-
judge
culiar plan. You can
why. You only pay for the
good you get.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
want ease and shapeliness,
you buy it—but you don’t
keep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of it
though. Soft Eyelets, and
"bones” that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets have
both of these.
