Tax Receiver Mize's digest of the tax
receipts for 1891 for Sumter county is
ny at flattering to Mr. Mize as an official,
and satisfactory In a marked degree to
our people. And this is particularly
creditable to Mr. Mize at this time, when
the universalcryof “No Money” is beard
in the land.
The districts which show an Increase
over last year are as follows. These are
the various amounts of increase:

unprecedented bargains will be

enough—but are SHORT ON
MONET.
If you want to know what we
mean by a SWEEPING Reduc
tion, come to this
This is a showing, for these alleged
bard times, of which Sumter county may
well be proud—and she is. And she is
especially proud of her tax receiver, Mr.
Mize, who evidently is possessed of that
admirable quality which is expressed so
euphoniously in Chinese, and of which a
free translation into the native tongue
might be rendered thus—"He gets
there'.''
It will be noticed specially that the
colored farmer is coming rapidly to the
front in a solid aud sensible fashion.
The Increase of property owned by this
class is reported at nearly $43,000, which
is an encouraging aud cheerful sign of
the times.
Take it all iu all, it is safe to say that
Sumter's report for the year 1801 will
compare favorably with au.v county in
the state. And the indications are that
the report of 18ftg will be far ahead of
this report for 1891.
