Mr. IV. E. Wilmott, a genial puller of
the bell cord on the Columbus Southern,
spent yesterday in the city.

Prof. G. H. Clark, a popular young
teacher of the county, was circulating

Hon. D. C. X. Burkhalter is at home
from the alliance convention, which has
been in session in Atlanta during the

Mr. W D. Bailey, the haberdasher,
arrived home last night from New York.
He says he took in all of New York and
brought half of it home with him. Call
on him in his new store and he will
prove the truth of his statement.
Miss Fannie and Master Abner Camp
bell delighted the home folks and their
many friends by returning home last
night from a lengthy visit to Mulberry
Grove. They were accompanied home
by Miss Mamie Harrison, a popular
young lady of Hamilton, Ga., who will
be the guest of Miss Fanuie for several
weeks.

City Improvements.
Street Overseer Raiford is putting in
a large and substantial sewer on Jeffer
son street, between Lee street and the
old cemetery,prepartory to putting down
a sidewalk on that street. These im
provements have been long needed, and
they will be greatly appreciated by the
residents of the neighborhood.
The brick pavement on Lamar street,
extending from Hawkins’ beef market to
Logan’s store, near the Artesian well, is
approaching completion.
