Aprivate letter received at Lexington, Va., contained the information that General William Henry Fitfthngh Lee, congressman from tbe Alexandria dis trict, is dangerously ill at his home, near Unrlcs Station. His recovery is donbt- f nl. General Lee is a son of General U. E. Lee. At Indianapolis, Md., fire consumed the canning works of thn VanCamp Packing company. The total loss is $200,000, on which there is $149,500 in surance. Four firemen were caught by a falling wall and badly bnt not fatally hurt. Pipeman Martin Haley was over come by heat and will probably die. Mr. Charles Murphy, special agent of the United States agricultural depart ment, is in Berlin. Mr.-Murphy’s visit is made for the purpose of bringing to tbo attention of the authorities the value of Indlau corn ns an article of food.
