THE AMEEICUS DAILY TIMES-RECOK PER; THDRSDAV. OCTOBER 8. 1891.
"Beauty without grace
it a hook without a bait” Than what
the French think. Whether it be true
or not, there are many American women
who do not even possess the hook—bean-
ty and nttrnctlvcnero are denied them.
Why t Because they’re languid, cross
and Irritable. They know not what
it it to bo without pain or discomfort
half the time.
That’s it; suffer in silence—misun
derstood—when there’s a remedy—Dr.
Pierce’s Favorite Prescription—at band
that isn’t an experiment, but which li
sold, by druggists, under the guarantee
that If you aro disappointed in any
way with It, yon get your money back
tar applying to its makers.
A signal service to weak womenkind
finding of lost health—the build-
of a “run-down " system. Noth-
_ es it so surely as tho “Favorite
Prescription.* None like it t
Far ‘overworked, debilitated women,
tkaeheM, milliners, seamstresses, “shop
girls," naming mothers—one and all are
sored by It.
This is the way
with the Ball corset: if you
want ease and shapeliness,
you buy it—Jiut you don’t
keep it unless you like it.
After two or three weeks’
wear, you can return it and
have your money.
Comfort isn’t all of It
Soft Eyelets, and
that can’t break or
kink—Ball’s corsets : have
both of these.

Salmon In the Slerrimack.
Fish Commissioner E. B. Hodge, of
Plymouth, says there arc now more
salmon in tho Merrimack river than at
any time since the Lawrence dam was
built, forty years ago. nnd he thinks
even further hack than that. In one
day he caught twenty-two flno ones at
Plymouth. They are. however, being
mercilessly slaughtered by the dosen at
ttnrrin’s Falls, at the months of the
Suncook and Soucook rivets, and at
other points
Speaking of the agreement existing
between this state and Massachusetts,
Colonel Hodge said it was generally
thought that its provisions coBt New
Hampshire considerable money, while
the fact is that the matter has been so
arranged that tho general government
has footed the Mila and It has not cost
this state a cent Moreover, it was this
agreement with Massachusetts which
alone made possible tbs establishment
of the first fish hatchery in'this state.-

Harrison G. Milter, while crossing the
premises of Georgo 0. Haskell In Koch-
ester, a fow days ago, found n land tur
tle marked os follows, "J. E,, Oct Si,
1818;’’ a 0„ 1818,” “W. 8„ 1837;’’ “W.
P., 1831;" 1839 was without a name.
The turtle was, without a doubt, fnll
grown when first marked, and at this
day hi probably more than 100 years old.
From its appearance aa it hurried off
when liberated, it is good for another
century. The Initials “8. C." nnd “W.
8.” were undoubtedly inscribed by Sam
uel Clapp and William Sturtovont, who
wero young men nnd residents in the
vicinity at the dates of 1818 nnd 1837.—
