Never s fairer wedding day dawned
for any bride thaJ yesterday. It was
one of the moat beautiful daye of our
northern’Indian summer, the eun abone
brightly, and the air was clear and In
vigorating. A large and brilliant com
pany assembled at bt John’s church at
10 a. m. to witness the marriage of Mias
Minnie Henrietta Kelly of this city,
formerly of Cbleago, and Archibald
Ronaidson Eldridge of Americue, Ga.
The ceremony was performed by Rt.
Rev. P. A. Ludden, Bishop of the
Diocese of Syracuse, aa a special favor
to hie college friend, the bride's father.
The bridesmaid! were Miss Agnes E.
Brenock and Mies Laura L. Koenig of
Chicago. Crawford Wheatley of Ameri
cas, was best man and Edward Sheehan,
Otto A. Meyer and Charles Roberts,
others. In the chancel was a fine dis
play of palms, and the altar of the
Blessed Virgin was adorned with flow-
era.
Aa the party entered the churoh the
organ played the Weddl ng March from
Lohengrin. The bride, attended by her
maids, and proceeded by the ushers,
marched to the chancel (ail, where they
were met by the groom and bl* best
man. The bride's gown was of white
satin, with long train, trimmed with
embroidered chiffon. The white tails
veil, whleh was the same one worn by
her mother at her marriage, was orna
mented with orange blossoms. The
bride carried a large bonqnet of white
bride rosea, and had' diamond orna-
Tbe bridesmaids’ gowns were
of white crepe de Sole, and they carried
bouquets of Katherine Mermet roses.
The ceremony wss impressive and
beautiful. Prof. George H. Fisher pre
sided at the organ, and the choir sang
Haydn's masa in C, No. 2. Bishop Lud
den occupied a seat on hia throne at the
left of the chancel. The pastor, Rev.
Dr. J. S. M. Lynch, acted aa celebrant
of the mats, with Rev. Father Quinn
deacon and Rev. Father McManus sub-
deacon. Rev. Father John F. Lowery,
of Cohoes, waa also present in the sano-
toary. Bishop Ludden assisted In the
solemn nnptlal masa. At the offertory
Hits Kittle Owens sang “O Salutaris
Hostia,” by Robandl,|John T. Garvey
playing the violin obligato. Tne music
was beautiful.
Twice during the moot solemn part of
the ihass It waa interrupted by the bride
and groom advancing to the the altar
when a special blessing was invoked on
them. This waa a peculiar privilege
granted by the bishop and not often ac
corded to marriage parties.
At the conclusion of the ceremony
the bishop gave the newly wedded hia
benediction. Mendelsohn’s wedding
march waa played aa the party left the
ebnreh.
Immediately after the ceremony i
wedding breakfast waa givao at tha resi
dence of the bride’s parents, No. 2 Com

The bride la the accomplished daught
er of Martin W. Kelly, of the Arm of

Ha is Indeed to ha congratulated on se

Florist Matthews. The mantels were
bonked with American beauty roses,
Grace Wilder carnations and maiden
hair feme, while the doors and windows
were festooned with smllax. The wed
ding breakfast waa served by Caterer A.
L. Gwent.
Among the gneete from out of town

Americusj Mrs. Morgan Eldridge and

Yesterday a Times-Kecordib reporter
took in the America* Iron Works, and
although the time was nnpropitlons for
anything like an adequate criterian by
which to go for aa insight into the im
mense business done by this factory, yet
to the uninitiated the hum of machinery
and tue busy army of mechanics would
look like an over-crowding of work.
They are doing much, but have capacity
for more.
There are few people in America,;-
comparatively speaking, who realize the
Importance and magnitude of this Indus
try. There are no parts of building
Iron that they cannot cast, and steam
engines can be entirely reproduced, as Is
evidenced by tbe number which they
now have on hand for repairs and re
modelling.
Tbe foundry connected with the es
tablishment is one of full completeness
in all its details, and with the assistance
of an unexoelled pattern-maker, casting!
from blind fastenings to 100 horse-pow
er fly wheels can be made. Their blast
furnace is one of great capacity, and
when at its full heat tbe interior as
viewed through the Isingglais peep
hole on-one aide is painfully suggestive
of what impenitent sinners may expect
after a career of earthly iniquity.
Mr. Jas. Lanier, whether from natural
geniality or rushing business, wears a
perpetual and inviting smile and seems
to take at a personal favor the privilege
of showing visitors over tbe extensive
works over whioh be has the super-
vision.
No Mon Need Apply.
At Olivers’ book and stationary store
last week a number of large packing
boxes obstructing tbe sidewalks oc
casioned remark- and speculation aa to
their contents, and when It was learned
that the entire layout consisted of But.
terlek’s Ladies’ Dress Patterns the look
of horror that crept into the eyea of the
married men around waa something
heartrending to behold. $700 worth of
drees patterns. Think of it! Enough
and to apart for all the ladles in Ameri-
cot, bat only tbe ladies can appreciate
the beauties of those dieplajed. Tbe
mind of proeaio masculinity is incapable
of grasping tbelr delicate Intricacies.
But the pattern* are there and the old
man can pay for them.
