THE AMEK1CUS DAILY TIMES-EECORDER: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 1891.
THE RESULT,
When it was recently announced
. that Thornton Wheatley’s usual
pilgrimage hud been made to the
Eastern markets, the public waited
to see in these columns, the report
of what had been done for their
benefit in the way of novelties in
goods and revelations in low prices.
AT tHngs being uow Beady von
THE *'k»8T,tbe people of Americas
and the surrounding country are
invited to come. They are not ex
pected to have on their Weddinq
Garments, for Wheatley’s is the
Place where the people must go
to be property decked out for an
appearance, either at a feast or at
business; and nobody can have
the trade mark that a Perfectly
Dressed Man always bears, until
after they have been to
Thornton Wneatley’s
and have been supplied with
Letters Patent of Llegaxce !
By that establishment.
THE FIRST CASE.
The Times-Recorder isn’t half
bio enough to hold oven a cat
alogue of the Elegant Goods, and
the Puper-Elegantly Low Prices
attached.
Only the general heads can here
be outlined ; the true inwardness
of the feast can’t be understood
until the guests go through the
whole Bill of Fare in person at
Wheatley’s.
No such complete and; elegant
stock of
Gentlemen’s, Youths’ and
Boys’
CLOTHING!
has ever been brought to Americus
and the MOST ASTONISHING
THING about them is the LOW
PRICES!
HATS!
Stiff and crushed, that CANNOT

Jadfe PlUbarjSIU Dowd on Selling Clger-
»tte. to Minor*.
Yonterday a negro man by the name
of Middlebrook Instituted a auit before
Judge Pil.bury against a negro boy by
the name of Jim Trent for cheating and
swindling.
Trent had been buying goods from
Steve I’erry, colored, who keeps a small
store on Jefferson street, on the account
of Middlebrook.
During the investigation the evidence
showed that Perry had been selling
cigarettes to Trent, who is a minor.
Judge Pilsbury at once|ordered the pros
ecution of Perry, who was bound over
in a bond of fifty dollars for bis appear
ance at the noxt term of the county
court
This is the first caso of the kind that
has come before Judge Pilsbury, and
that would not have been presented bad
it not been for his watchfulness and a
determination on his part to plumb the
line. He is asked every day why the
selling of cigarettes to minors is allowed
and why those who sell them are not
prosecuted. All offenders will be
promptly dealt with if properly present
ed to the county court. Paste that in
your hat, will you?
For Boys.
Remember, we have provided for the
boys, and they can get a shirt waist,
pair of knee pants, suit or overcoat of

. Yours for business,
“Clemenceau C*»b" on Tuesday, Nor. 3,
The story of the “Cleraenceau Case” is
that of an impoverished, eccentric and
worldly Polish countess, who leaves St.
Petersburg at the request of the authori
ties, establishes herself in a flat in Paris.
She has a beautiful .daughter, 16 years
old, by whose means she hopes to win
her way to wealth and luxury. She at
tends a dance in the salon of an artist,
with her daughter dressed as a page. A
young sculptor there falls In love with
the girl. In spite of her mother’s desire
that she should wed a wealthy Russian
count, who has been In love with her,
she eventually becomes the wife of the
young sculptor. She apparently gives
all her affection to her husband and
poses as a model for a statue that is to
make his name famous. The unfortu
nate man accidentally discovers his
wife’s intrigues, kills her lover and
drives her away. He Is afterwards In?
duced to go to her. house. She refuses
to fly with him, and he kills her. This
brief outline sketch will give an idea of
the character of the play. It is decided
ly French In tone, and yet, If all that is
said of it be true, it is no more improper
than “Camille,” which has long been re
garded as a ntandard play of its kind.
The company which will appear here is
the same that gave the play in Poston
and New York, which caused so much
sensational talk. Miss Emma Pell will
appear as Iza, the young wife.
A Few Left.
We have a few of those beautiful
“red” four-in-hands loft. Also a com
plete line of scarfs, bows and ties of ev
ery description.

Kev. Dr. J. W. Lee’s lecture at the

Sunshine" Is a literary treat which
shonld not be missed by anyone who
can possibly sparo the time to attend.
Dr. Lee Is an orator of great power,
and in the way of scholastic attainments
has few superiors. His lecture Is
noted ono from Its gradual ascension
from the commonplace and scientIQo
basis, to the highest point of analytical
and moral psychology. A combination
of wit and wisdom. Dr. Lee Is known
over the length and brendth of the coun<
try, and is a warm personal friend of Dr.
Chat. F. Deems, the eminent New York
divine.
Dr. Lee will begin his lecture at 7-10
p. m., and as the price of admission,
only 25c, places It within reach of all, a
good audienco should greet him.
