THE AMER1CUS DAILY TIMES-RECORDER: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1891. the ass E ins erere IINS CAUGHT. Ib. Alabama M f lerera Prove to Bo SB obl Nttn{b n fid Bl. Wlf#. jloSTOOMBBV.Wor. 5.—Detective D. w I). B inies, of the Louisville and Nashville system, arrived here from Oeorgiana, where he arrested Ed Moore ami his wife, colored, on the strongest evidence obtainable. After traveling the murderer’s track from Georgiana by his hounds. Chief of Police Potter- field, of Greenville, tracked Moore to his home, within two miles of where old mau Sheppard and his wife were as sassinated. At Moore's lionge found his pants all spattered with traces of blood, and his wife’s shoes and hat hid den and, when found, were bloody. The hat had the spider webs from the ceil ing under the root on it yet, and other evidences point bnt too strongly that Moore and his wife are connected with that murder, if not others. When arrested Moore said: "Oh, God, take care of me,” and crossed his bands. He was covered with two pis tols fnd offered no resistance. The measure of his shoes fully corresponds with the measure of the track as made by Detective Barnes where the bloody one laid. He left Moore and wife in custody of the sheriff of Butler, at Georgiana, but Barnes thought that both would hang on the limb of a cedar tree before morning. Revenge on the part of E l Moore and wife, Maria, for having been refused credit by Sheppard, is believed to have been the prime cause of the diabolical deed. The state offers $400 and the citizens' committee of Georgiana offers $500 ad ditional for the apprehension, which Barnes nud Pottertield will likely earn, after two days and nights of tireless search. The whole community and the people around Georgiana are excited, since another unknown white man has been found, five miles from Georgiana, also murdered, makingthesixth assassi nation in that immediate vicinity ia a few weeks. ■ Chi lies. Bart and Pe- cardo Trumbull, who have been on trial here for a week, charged with fit ting ont the Chilian steamer Itata with arms to cruise against the government of Chili. The court grants the motion on two points—first, that the indict ment is defective, being formed nnder the nentrality laws ia not stattng that a state of war existed in Chili und that the defendants were beligerents and had been recognized as such; secondly, the charges would trot hold, because the statute contemplates a state of war, also that the vessel coming to the United States to get arms and carrying them peacefully away was not fittiug out any expedition that hail already been eet on foot in Chili and was being conducted from there and not from the United States.
