Hiculand, Ga , Nov. 18.—No happier event has over occurred in Richland so ciety than that at the Baptist church to day, when our popular young Mayor, Prof. J. C. Bayfield and Miss Maggie Carter were united in holy wedlock. Just at 1230 p. m., the appointed hour, the wedding march began, which was beautifully rendered by Mlsa Jesale Forrester, and slowly np the right aisle of the church proceeded Mr. F- D. Black and Dr. R. E. L. Bsrnum, and up the left, Messrs. G. R. Brown and R. J. Dixon, who acted as ushers, these cross ing and taking their stand upon opposite aides under arches of evergreen inter woven with rare andTovely flowers- Next up the centre aisle came two sweet and pretty little flower girls, Misses Chap Seville and Louise Lamai, who bore each a lovely bouquet of choice chrysanthemums, and opened the gate for the happy couple who Immediately followed them, and then advancing to their positions on either side pf the cen tral arch. As the bride and groom pasted through the little gate-way through which they were never to return lovers, but aa husband and wife, they presented a lovely picture. These proceeding to their poaition be neath the oentral arch and all facing the large audience assembled, 'the Rev. M. B. L. Binion arose and proceeded to per v form a most' solemn, impressive and beautiful ceremony, whloh made them man and wife. After the ceremony they were driven to the Riohland Inn, where they reoeived tho congratulations of rela tives and friends. At 135 p. m., under showers office and with tho good wishes of all, they boarded the north-bound train on the Coiambus Southern railroad and wejo off to spend several weeks visiting rela tives In this state and Alabama.
