prescribes that It shall bo tbe duty of the

by resolution the time when city taxes ahall
become due, and for notice thereof by the
cleik and treasurer be, and the same is
hereby repealed, and ln lieu thereof the fol
lower section is enacted, to-wtt:
Bbc. 2. Be it further ordained by tbe au
thority aforesaid, that from and after the
passage of this ordinance, all City taxes shall
become due and parable by the first day or
October of each year, and any taxpayer who
shall neglect or refuse to pay such taxes by
the20thdayofUec*mberof each year, shall
be entered upon tbe list or defaulter*, and
tbe Clerk and Treasurer shall forthwith, as
early as practicable. Issue execution against
such taxpayer for bis unpaid taxes, which
execution shall bear test In the name of the
Mayor and City Connell ot Americus and be
directed to tbe Marshal, who shall, by levy
and sale, forthwith collect the same as pro
vided by law,

AN ORDINANCE.
An ordinance to repeal sect'o i f99 of tbe
code of ordinances of the city of Americus,
and in lieu thereof to prescribe by ordinance
the time when all tax returns shull be made,
and for other nurposes,
Hectiox 1, Be it ordained and enacted by
the Mayor and City Council of Americas,
and it la hereby ordained and enacted by tbe
authority of the Name. That from and after
the parage of this oniirmnej Hectlon 3Wof
the code of ordl nances of the city of Ameri
cas, which prescribe* that the Mayor and
City Council or Americu* sha*l by resolution
flx the time within which all tax ;eturis
shall be made, and cause the clerk and treas-
lleu thereof the following *«ction be enacted:
Hec.2. Belt further enacted and ordained
by the authority aforesaid. That from and
after the piiH»age of this ordinance all tax re
turns shall be made between rhe flrst day of
April and the flrst day of July of each year.
That upon tbe flrst day of July of each year
It shall he the duty ef the clerk and treasurer
tocl<-*e hi* dige*t and to proceed to assess
and tax all unreturned property as provided
in Hectlon 4u0 of the code of ordinances ot the
city.
