Every man who wants to rob tho treasu

Comk to tho front, young democrats,
and in every county exert your influ
ence for the cause of good government
hnd democratic success. Turn out and
take an activo part la the campaign.
Stump your counties, organize clubs,
instruct the peopie, and show them
wherein democratic government, State
and national, has been for their good.
Get to work, make your work tell, and
help to roll up a big majority for dem

President Eliot, of Harvard, has

very many of tho institutions upon

Gl) TO THE TOLLS.
To r any hundreds of the readers of
The Times Rfc order this week’s is?ue
of the wetkly will be the last tint will
come before the .State election next
week, and it is fitting that a last appeal
bo now made in behalf of a full turn out
and energetic work on election bay for
the State Democrats ti k»-t
Georgia expects every man on n< xt
Wednesday to do his duty. li. is canr -
tial to good, sound, stable government in
Georgia that tho Democratic part) con
I tinue in power from constable to g v
ernor for all time to come I' means
disturbance, trouble, bad government
and dissatisfaction for either i'•publicans
or populists to gain control, even iu a
minor degree, of our local affairs.
Then let every lover of his county his
district and his state go to tho polls
Wednesday, just as if the sole responsi
bility of preserving good govemm nt
rested on his individual shoulders, and
not only vote but work for the ticket
until the polls close.
Democrats may differ on minor issues,
(such as the choico of candidate*) dur
ing the progress of the campaign, but
when the day comes that tho common
enemy must be faced, the lines must
close up solidly, and a fight of victory
waged to the finish.
We cannot aflord to put into jeopardy
the good local government with which
the democratic party bas.blessed Georgia
for twenty-two years to try any sort of
experiments, however plausible they
may seeib; democracy alone means safe
ty for Georgia, and every good citizen
owes it to himself, his family and hi 8
state to vote the straight ticket on next
Wednesday.
Don’t fail to go to the polls next
Wednesday, October third, and sec that
the old empire state maintains her bon
ored and honorable record.
WHO ARE THE CRANK-1
The Columbus Enquirer Sun, whose
financial inspiration seems to cmanato
solely from Wall street, is very much
exorcised over tho “free silver cranks in
tho democratic party,” whom the En
quirer-Sun appears very anxious to
read out of the party.
Let us see; who are these “freo silver
cranks” in tho democratic ranks that
arc so disturbing tho esteemed Colum
bus echo of Wall street? Speaker Crisp,
our immediate congressman, and the
leader of the democratic house, favors
tho freo and unlimited coinage of silver
now; is he ono of tho cranks alluded to?
tjenr.tor Walsh favors the same lice; is
ho one of the cranks? Congressman
Moses of the Fourth is f >r rush coinage;
is he another of them? Congressmen
Maddox, Tate, Lester, Bussell, Living
ston and Black stand with Speaker
Crisp; sre thoy somo of these cranks?
Tho present governor, tho governor in
prospect, and the chairman of tho stato
democratic executive committee are
outspoken freo silver!tos; are they too
some of the silver cranks? M.tjor A.
(). Bacon, tho leading senatorial candi
date, Judge Fort, lato chairman of tho
state democratic executive committee,
Judge Bartlett, who defeated Congress
man CabanUs on tho froc silver Issue, arc
all out and out for the free coinage of
silver right now; are they too amoDg
the cranks?
If these leaders who are preaching
free silver from every stump are uot the
“free silver cranks” to whom the En
quirer-Sun alludes, who are tho cranks
that ought to shut up or get out?
Will the Columbus orguu of John
Sherman enlighten its benighted readers
with some information as to tho identity
of these freo silver cranks, whoso
heresies are so diugcrous to tho demo
cratic party?
Wiieukvku tho volco of the people is
heard it is in f»vor of silver. The death
knell of a single gold standitd has been
sounded, for c.\cn the attempt to fasten
it upon the American people has brought
about such disastrous conditions that the
pcoplo are determined that the attempt
shall be abandoned, and as tlie evidence
goes to show that the attempt to run the
government upon a single gold standard
was conceived in ee’.fishncss and born in
unfairness the people are all tho more
determined that silver shall not be aban
doned as one of the money me’als of the
world.-— Chattanooga News.
No silver democrats have received
aay offices from the present administra
tion. Belief in a fundamental doctrine
of genuine democracy is rcgaxdcdtoo
gross a heresy to entitle the holder to
any consideration at the hands of Presi
dent Cleveland.

Tun Macon Evening news says:
It was a magnificent ard a very intel
ligent audience that listened to Hon.
Hoke Smith at tho Wadiey monument
last cvenluc. His presentation of the
issues of the day was made In a masterly
manner, and although his arguments up
on tho coinage question were mainly
those which hive been made by republi

many, years, they were put In a very
pleasing and forcible manner. In fact it
is doubtful whether Senater Bherman
himself cuuld have dune better.
