larger, perhaps, than any previous
year since the establishment of the
public school system, and teachers

The exact figures are not known, but

A Former Citizen Comes Back After
Long Absence,
rfl Among other visitors here yesterday
was a Mr. McGregor who, as the name
would indicate, is a genial Scotsman
and coines back to Americns .after an
absence of thirty-three years. There
were but few familiar faces to be seen,
though the visitor readily remembered
several older citizens who were hear© at
that time.
Mr. MeGregor recalled many stirring
incidents in the pioneer days of Ameri
cas, notably theMcBabe-Sliaw tragedy,
of which he came near being an eye
witness. The spot upon which the lat
ter was killed, near the library, was
easily located by the old settler.
This incident put Judge Ben Wheel
er to thinking, and that worthy citizen
and oracle made the statement that not
less than twenty-five men have been

inations will take place Thursday
morning, the, public ..being invited to
attend from 8:30 to 12 o’clock. The
several departments will present a
pleasing programme, each, and a
throng of visitors will listen to the
music and recitations rendered by the

award of diplomas to the graduating

We get the information from a source
which we have heretofore considered
most reliable, that early in July a cer
tain well known young lady of Monte
zuma will wed a young -gentleman of
Americns. The conple in question
have been the best of friends for quite
while, although many were of the
opinion that a yonng man of Montezu
ma held the winning hand. The an
nouncement to many, however, will
not be a great surprise.

Council Will Take Action on Proposed
Bond Issne.
It is quite probable that the propos
ed issue of bonds for public improvc-

his willingness to direct the treatment the meeting of council tomorrow night.

the report of the committee appointed
to canvass tlie bond question, and as
nearly if not all the members of the
board favor bonds it is quite probable
that an election will be ordered at once.
The committee' will suggest that the
amount he fixed at 835,000, extending
over a period of thirty years, and that
the rate of interest be not greater than
4 pat cent. The several purposes to
which the money will be applied, if the
election is favorable to bonds,. has al
ready been stated in The Times-Recor-
dek.

TheWaycross Air Line Intends to
Bniid There Some Bay.
The Waycross' Air Dine is figuring
extending to Fitzgerald, although
this will not be done, immediately.
The road now extends - from Waycross
Nichols, which is forty miles south
east of Fitzgerald. Preparations are
being made to build from Nichols to
Broxton, fifteen miles. The remain
ing twenty-five miles into Fitzgerald
will be built later. B. A. Denmark,
Esq. of Savannah, is president of the
company. Mr. Denmark is also presi
dent of the Southwestern Railroad
Company.

Barton House, Barton, W. Vo., and
of the lffltet widely known men in
