FEW BEFORE MAYOR HAWKINS.
Little Evidence of Rowdyism During
Christmas.
That Americus observed Christmas
day decorously and orderly was evi
denced at the session of polioe court
yesterday morning. Instead of bar
racks crowded with drunken negroes
and a docket filled with cases of disor
derly conduct, there were less than a
half dozen cases all told and only two or
three of these were for drunkenness.
Mayor Hawkins presided at court for
the first time and was not disposed to
b 3 too severe upon the Christmas rev
eler who, inadvertently, had fallen by
the wayside. It was remarked by many
that there was far less drunkenness
and disorder in Americus this Christ
mas than there was a year ago, a faot
worthy of comment and of commenda
tion.

wonders in stomach and liver troubles.
