Three or Four Hangings Will Occur
Here in Due Time—Jonas Hicks
Sentenced to Hang on k*ay 24 for
Murder of Mr. Jarrett J. Davis,
Jonas Hicks, the negro who brutally
shot to death Mr. Jarrett J. Davie,
ha? been sentenced to hang on Thurs
day, May 24th for his crime. This
d»te is not far in the fatnre, and un

Hicks will soon swing for murder.
The hanging of Hicks swells the
total to three ixecutions to take place
in Americus soon.
George Broughton and John Gra
ham are already under sentence,
throrgh respited for a t rup, and the
onviction and sentence of Hicks
swells the total to three, with probably
others.
And the penitentiary gang is re
o uited, too. at this term of court.
The ease of Hicks was quickly dis
posed of. He was indicted on Mon
day, trud and convicted Tuesday and
sentenced Wednesday to death upon
the gallows. His crime was one of the
most brutal that has ever blackened
th9 criminal record here.
Judge Littlejohn likewise imposed
sentence upon others oonvicted at this
special term of court, which came to a
dose yesterlay.
Clarenea Herndon, convioted of
murder, was recommended to mercy
and given a life sentence in the peni
tentiary. Herndon killed another ne

SOFTNESS OF SEALSKIN.
la Rivaled by Human Hair Where
Dandruff la Eradicated.
Sealskin is admired the world over for
Its softness and glossiness; and yet the
human hair is equally as soft and glossy
when healthy; and the radical cause of all
hair trouble Is dandruff, which is caused
by a pestiferous parasite that saps the
vitality of the hair at its root. Newbro’s
Herpicide is the only preparation that Is
fatal to the dandruff germ. Without dan
druff there Is no falling hair, but a lux
uriant growth of glossy, soft hair Is cer
tain. Scouring the scalp won’t cure dan
druff. Kill the dandruff germ. Thous
