More blood was spilt ball play
ed yesterday and as the result of two
accidents to members of ber team
Americas dropped the game to the
Flint river boys, when otherwise she
might have pulled down three straights
in the series with them.
Pitcher Whalen, Smith aDd Sorrells
were the three men hurt, though hap
pily not seriously. There is no doubt,
however,that the retirement of Whalen
lost Americus the game.
Through the sixth inning he pitched
fine bait, in that inning making a rec
ord by pitching nine balls and striking
out trhee men. In the next Whalen
split a finger badly. He was retired
for McKnighf, whom the Albanians
found dead easy.
Up to that time the clubs stood right
together, four to four.
St cond Baseman Smith was hurt as
well and retired, while Sorrells was
disabled for a time.
Albany pot up Noliey and daCoetu,
who did good work. As usual a great
audit nos witnessed the game. Ameri
cas always sends out a host, and no
city in the league has ever had a better
record for attendance, and for flaanoi6l

game. Following is yesterday’s score

SESSION OF INSTITUTE ENDED
Sumter’* Teachers Have an Instruc

Leslie, Jane 1. —At yesterday’s ses

The vital necessity of teaching this

He advocates better arrangement

Mr. Blackman gave an excellent

The subject of reading was begun

Bow to Break Up a Cold.
It may be a surprise to many to learn
that a severe cold can be completely
broken up in one or two days’ lime. To
do this, however, prompt action is neces
sary. The first symptons of a cold are
a dry, loud cough, a profuse watery
discharge from the nose, and a thin,
white coating on the tongue. When
Chamberlain’s cough remedy is taken
every hour on the first appearance of
these symptons, it counteracts the effect
of the cold and restores the system to
a kealty condition witnin a day or two.
