TO KILL THE DANDRUFF GERM.
In the Only Possible Way of Harlag
As Effective Cure.
If you see a woman or a man with lux
uriant glossy hair, you may be sure neb
tlier has dandruff to amount to anything.
In nearly every case where women and
men have thin brittle hair, they owe it
to dandruff. There are hundreds of prep
arations that “claim” to cure dandruff,
but not one but Newbro’s Herpicide tells
you that dandruff is the result of a germ
burrowing into the scalp, and that per
manent cure of dandruff and its conse
quent falling and baldness, can only be
had by killing the germ; and there is no
other preparation that will destroy that
germ but Newbjro’s Herpicide. “Destroy
the cause, and you remove the effect.”

How to Break Up a Cold
r
It may be a surprise to many to learn
that a severe cold can be completely
5 broken up in one or two days’ time. To
do this,however,prompt action is necee
’ sary. The first symptons of a cold are
a dry, loud cough, a profuse watery
discharge from the noe>e, and a thin,
white coating on the tongue. When
1 chamberlain’s cough remedy is taken
every hour on the first appearance of
these symptons, it counteracts the fffoc‘
. of the cold and restores the system to
a healty condition within a day or two.

A YEAR OF SUCCESS
HAS THE HOSPITAL
Institution is Upon a Solid
Basis.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS THERE
A. Rylander is Preaident for the Cur
rent Year —Purchase of the Building
is Recommended —Finances of In
stitution Are in Good Shape.
The Americus Hospital Association
has just held its annual meeting, re
viewing the wo k accomplished daring
the first year and electing cfliaers and
board of physicians for the current
year. The meeting was well attended
and muoh interest evidenced.
Theeucoets attending the hospital
daring this the first year of its exis
tence, was indeed gratifying, surpass
ing the sanguine expectations of those
laboring so zealously to make it so.
And.thesecond yea r , with experience
gained in the first,begins auspiciously.
At this annual meeting Mr. Arthur
Rylander was eh eted presiden*, Judge
Chas. R. Crisp vice president, R c y. J.
L. Irvin secretary, an i Vfr. G Morgan
Eldridge treasurer.
These four cllic ah, with four from
the Ladies Auxiliary snd the followirg
named genth mtD, constitn’ethe board
of directors: Me-sra N, A. Ray, C.
M. Council, Allen For*, Jr., G., W.
Baoot, E. L. Murray, A, T. Johnson
Frank P. Harrold.
The board of house physicians are:
Doctors J. C. Field, R E Cato, G. T.
Miller, W. S. Pra’her, T. A. Chappell.
Following resolution was adopted:
Resolved, That the Amerions Char
ity Hospital Association is essentially
a city and county tffair, and all citi
zens of said city and connty are invited
and urged to take an interest in its af
afliirs and are hereby assured of a
cordial greeting.
Resolved, That every licensed phy
sician in Americas and Sumter connty
are hereby urged to enconrage the
maintenance and sncceesful operation
of the hospital, &Ld are respectfully
invited to give it their it llaence and
support.
They are all invittd to send patients
to the hospital and to feel that they
are all welcome aud that they are as
much interested in the asuciation as
any one elee. ”
The annual report of the retiring
president. Judge Charieß R Crisp,
contained much information ts value
and interest to the general public.
The hospital was opened for the re
ception of patients May 29th, 1905, and
since that date hasreceived thirty-sev
en yatients. Os these, twenty-nine
were “pay'’ patients, and eight charity.
Th ra have been performed twelve
surgical operations, all of whioh were
eminently successful. There were five
deaths daring the year, one a charity
patient. There are now but six pa
tients in the hospital: one, the little
son of J C Clark, being the only
charity patient.
This little boy, ttrrib y burned, has
been there sines December last, and is
now rapidly improvmg.
The hospital has reoeived from all
sourcts, including pay patients, doDe
tions from city and connty, and from
bazaars, the sum of #5,459 12, and has
expendtd #4,162.18, leaving a cash bal
ance in bank $1,297.04.
The Hospital Association spent s6u)
or S7OO in improvements upon the
building, operating room and other
needed expenditures. The insti'ution
is now thoroughly equipped in the
way of sngplies.furnitnr .blankets, bed
ding, stoves, e’e,, and expenses will
thus be curtailed.
The attendants at the hospital are
ample, Miss ‘Crowe, the matron in
charge, having as mary corses at her
command as are needed.
From the standpoint of eoonomy
President Crisp sdvises the purchase
of the bnilding, now leased for a term
of years at $360 per annum. Over
SI,OOO has been raised for this purpose,
and tbfc $2,000 additional required can
ba had on loan at 8 per oent.
The building, it is said, oan be
bought by the Association for $3,100.
Thus S2JO per year oan be saved in the
way of rent account.
Tne Americus hospital has been a
boon to suffering humanity here, and
is appreciated to the fullest extent.
The bast people of oity and oounty
have been among its patients, and there
is no doubt that the superior treatment
given there has saved many lives.
All praise to the hospital, and the
noble women and men who have ever
fostered the institution.
