Following this agreement is a list of
days, with the names of the citizens
who were to be riders. Jacob Van
Denson, who agreed to be the first
man to rhle to Tyringham or Sheffield,
was to go for it on Monday, May 8,
and Mark Hopkins was to follow on
Wednesday, the service from that time
on alternating, except as to the Sab
bath, which compelled a uo news in

Ease—Good Audience Saw First
Game of Scries.
Americas took the first of the series
from Columbas jester day afternoon in
a well played game on the local
grounds. Whalen pitched for Ameri
cas, with Stephens behind the ba\ and
the tcore of seven to five was made
without difficulty by the locals,
An audience of probably 250 specta
tors witnessed the game.
The Americas team was strengthened
by the addition of two men, Spencer,
who comes as pitcher, and Brenner,
second baseman. Spencer pitched two
innings yesterday, 8;h and 9th.
Maneger Whalen pitched fine ball
through the 7th inning when he quit
the box in order to give the new pitch
er, Spencer, a showing. Spenoer
pitched the Bth inning, Americas not
taking her half of the 9th. Spencer
gives promise of doing very good work

Weaver and Hessler made up the
Columbus battery, getting a total of'
eight hits only while Americas took

Nick Lamar is going toaland in the
box for the home team today, and if he
fails to win the game for Americas he
will greatly surprise a host here who

aud has won more games for Americus
on the road so far than any other.
