The first shipment of one hundred

The crop is very well advanced and by
the latter part of the week fall car

to particularize Tae first carloads
reached New York in good time and
were well marketed. It is the opinion
generally that the growers will take
more c..re la marketing the crop this

doubtedly prove r*f great advantage to
the growers.
DISCRIMINATING LADIES.
Enjoy Haing Herpicide on Account of
It. Distinctiveness.
The ladies who have used Newbro’a
Herpicide speak of it in the highest
terms, for its quick effect in cleansing
the scalp of dandruff and also for Its ex
cellence as a general hair-dressing. It
makes the scalp feel fresh and It allays
that itching which dandruff will cause.
Newbro’s Herpicide effectively cures
dandruff, as it destroys the germ that
causes it. The same germ causes hair to
fall out, and later baldness; in killing it,
Herpicide stops falling hair and prevents
baldness. It is also an ideal hair dress
ing, for it lends an aristocratic charm to
the hair that is quite distinctive. Sold
by leading druggists. Send 10c. in stamps
for sample to The Herpicide Co., De

COMMISSION MAY HAVE INQUIRY
Into Cruse of Death cf the Negro Con
vict.
bince the death of the negro convict,
Mnnch Holloway, on Saturday, rumor
has been rife as the treatment ac
corded him prior to his sadden death.
These rumors are doubtless base
less, as indicated by the statement of
a physician who examined the body of
Holloway as well as those having the
negro in charge when he died. How
ever, in order to sathfy the public
mind it would be au easy matter for
the county commissioners to eondact
a thorough investigation Os the case,
taking the tes'imon? of all witnesses
to the strapping given Ihe negro short
ly before death ensued, as well a* the
testimony of attending physicians. The
public only wants the faotP, and to this
they are entitled.

How to Break Up a Cold.
It may be a surprise to many to learn
that a severe cold can be completely
broken up in one or two days’ time. To
do this,however,prompt action is neces
sary. The first symptons of a cold are
a dry, loud cough, a profuse watery
discharge fiom the nose, and a thin,
white coating on the tongue. When
Lhamberlain’s cough remedy is taken
every hour on tbe first appearance of
these symp'ens, it counteracts ihe effect
of the cold snd restores be sjetem to
a Lealty condition witrin a day or two.

The local forces of the Bell Tele

lady operators from Macon and
Atlanta have been bronght here to
assist in the installation of the new
service and to instrnot the local force

MEETING VERY IMPORTANT ONE
Session of State Prison Board This
Morning
The State Frisan Commission will
meet today, when a deoision will bs
reached to sell tbe 500 bale cotton
wbiob were raised last year od the state
firm at Milledgeville.
This cotton has been held in the hope
of getting 12 or 15 cents for it. Its sale
at the present price will net the state
between $25,000 and $50,000.
The commission will also take some
action with regard to opening the new
state reformatory for youthful c flind
ers on July 1.
It is practically certain that the com
mission will not take any action re
garding the cases of J. G. Rawlings
and his sons, sentenced to be hanged
for murder of the Carter children.
Another subject to be discussed will
be that of the separation of oonviots
suffering from tuberculosis at the state
from the other convicts.
